Recommended to me and I’m happy with it.
I had an average Chromebook that I needed to replace that couldn’t be fixed by the IT man and he recommended this exact model. It is a nice change going back to a laptop! It does everything that I need it to do. Has lots of space for pictures and documents. The processing speed is fast and I can have multiple tabs open at a time with no glitches or slow downs. It charges fairly quickly and have never found it to be too hot or overheating, even in the summer. I sometimes use it for work and the battery will last all day with fairly constant use. It was simple to set up. The only thing I could complain about is the power button. You hold it for a few seconds and the screen comes on, but if you hold it for one second too long the screen just flashes on and off. It kept doing this to me at first and I thought it was damaged lol. Once you get the “timing” just right, it is fine though. The price was also very fair and it arrived quickly and in new condition. This is my first Asus laptop, and overall, I’m very satisfied with this brand and model. I even recommended this laptop to someone else with similar needs and they are also satisfied.

A good, cheap laptop with an important asterisk
This laptop has pretty good specs for the price, and the only thing that would make this a 5 star recommendation is if it had Windows 10 installed out of box. The specs suit it much better, and for comparison:Windows 11 ram usage with just firefox open: 6.2gbWIndows 10 ram usage with just firefox open: 4.8gbWindows 11 storage space free with just firefox installed: 76gbWIndows 10 storage space free with just firefox installed: 89gbI didnt grab any other metrics like what the CPU was doing, but since Windows 10 is older it should run better and it does feel like it with frame-rate speeds and user input response times being slightly more responsive. In short, if you get this laptop and have a flashdrive with Windows 10 install media, install windows 10.With Windows 10: 5/5Runs fasterMore available ramMore available storageInstall removes bloatwareStill supported as of 01/17/2025With Windows 11: 4/5Runs slightly slowerLess available ramLess available storageComes with bloatwareStill supported as of 01/17/2025I will update this if I ever look more in depth.

A nice laptop if you don’t want to do anything fancy with it.
I bought this computer solely to write with it for work: and for that it’s been excellent. I had no problem getting it out of S mode so that I could install apps such as Chrome. It’s a little annoying that there is that step you have to take but it wasn’t hard to do it. I’ve had no trouble running Slack on it, hooking up to my cloud account, running various word processors and google drive docs at the same time. I’ve had music running on it and even watched a movie once. It’s a nice, basic computer that I’ve had no speed issues with or crashes. I’ve also been pleased with how long the battery has lasted, while using it for regular surfing. My one complaint is that it doesn’t have a disc reader. It’s pretty light as well, which has made it easy to transport and travel with, which was another big thing I was looking for.A disclaimer: I did get it on sale on Prime Day, so I’m quite pleased with it based on what I paid for it, but I did get it for a bit less than its regular price. Still: if you want a nice, regular easy to set up laptop without a lot of extra bells and whistles, I’ve been quite happy with this one.

Designed for basic users
This is a well-designed laptop for basic users who will not need to upgrade. The battery is not removable. It comes in S mode, which limits software choices but is easily removed. Everything seems to work as expected and I have had no trouble using it. Users looking for a low-cost unit for home and home office needs should consider this one.

Zero Star – Asus STOP with this Realtek card!!
Zero star.I really wanted to like this laptop, but my experience was honestly terrible. The Wi-Fi had problems right from the start. Sometimes it detected networks, sometimes it didn’t show anything at all. When it finally showed the Wi-Fi, it kept disconnecting every few minutes or just refusing to connect for no reason. It was super inconsistent and made the laptop basically impossible to use.I tried everything I could think of on the software side. Updated drivers, Windows updates, restarts, network reset, disabling and enabling the adapter, even trying different routers in my house. Nothing fixed it. It just kept acting weird like the signal was too weak or the card was failing. It’s kind of ridiculous for a brand new device. What makes it worse is that the laptop itself is actually nice in other ways. It’s light, the screen is okay, and the processor is good enough for basic tasks. But none of that matters if the Wi-Fi can’t stay connected. You can’t study, can’t watch videos, can’t browse normally. It turns every simple thing into a headache.I had issues with ASUS years ago with a phone, and honestly this reminded me of the same thing. Maybe I just got a bad unit, but the experience was bad enough that I decided to return it right away. I wouldn’t recommend it unless they fix whatever is going on with the wireless hardware.
