overall great
need some time to familiar with the bottoms and their function, but once getting the optimal setting, it is a decent portable ebook reader that you can read book smoothly. one glitch is epub does not work well, many words disappear in the sentence and some even only load the first page. txt works fine. The default font lost words in the sentences for some files, but switching to another preloaded font can fix it. i do think having a front light will be a better feature, which is also available in their product page

confusing
really confusing, it only gives very brief idea of what the buttons do but its really confusing to set up. Its a fun idea but could be made better

Interesting pocket e-reader, some missing functionality
Fun, ultra-compact e-ink reader goes anywhere with very small screen, but missing some functionality and has some Chinese text. The box included a clear carry case, a microSD USB reader, and the e-reader with the SD card pre-installed.HardwareBuild quality: Light but solid, feels durable.Display: 2.66″ e-ink (296×152px, not 800×600 as claimed)Contrast is good in well-lit environments, but this model has no backlight.Page-turn speed is similar to other e-ink devices.Size: 3.3″×1.65″×0.4″ (slightly smaller than an Amazon gift card)Weight: 40gButtons: Quiet, good tactile feel. All 5 on one side: Power, Back, Select, Left, RightPorts: USB-C (charging only), microSD slot (spring eject)Storage: 32 GB microSD included (tested to labeled capacity), 256 KB on-deviceBattery: Not sure of capacity, but looks like it will last daysSetup and Use* Press Power – (pause) – Back within 2 seconds to enter mode selection* Transfer TXT/EPUB/BMP/JPG/MID files via the SD card or web UI (in Chinese)* To connect to Wi-Fi: open Settings – Other – Enter Network Set.* Creates a hotspot (SSID=ESP32 E-Paper, PW = 333333333)* Connect to web UI: http://192.168.3.3 in Chinese, so use Google Translate* Web UI lets you connect to other Wi-Fi networks and upload filesModesWeather: doesn’t work (missing API key)Reading: browse files on device or SD card, display books, images, MIDI files, etc.Clock: setting time zone didn’t workRadio: actually for setting alarms (maybe for “clock radio”?)Settings: lots of optionsUsing the Device* I recommend using EPUB files, because you can navigate by chapter* Page turns are typical for e-ink – but you’ll be turning the page every few lines* Reading mode can rotate landscape, portrait, landscape (flipped), and portrait (flipped)* Can also do light-on-dark mode* SD card comes preloaded with Project Gutenberg texts of Alice in Wonderland, Pride and Prejudice, and The Great Gatsby. The internal filesystem has a MIDI sound file, BMP image, and a Chinese text file of the Buddhist Heart Sutra* Audio playback (MIDI) works but sounds like 80s video gamesCautions* Resolution is not 800×600* “Reset system” reverts UI to Chinese, web UI is Chinese* Clock and Weather don’t work fully* No USB mass-storage – transfer via SD card or use web UIVerdictIf you want an ultraportable reader for the beach, backpack, or commute and are willing to use a small screen, it’s a fun option, but it doesn’t have the ease-of-use or big screen of a Kindle. If you’re a techie, you may want to explore re-flashing the ESP32 with a different ROM image.
