Dark, gray, or wrongfully believed low resolution screen : All Eink products used Kaleido 3 color e-ink technology, which currently has inherent limitations and share the same darker or grayer screen than LCD/LED ones. Amazing when it works.
So since i got it. Its been a bit of a hit and miss. I use the text to speech a lot. on the boox palma 2 that one worked amazing. This one the boox palma 2 pro the TTS pauses in the middle of random areas in the book. its very annoying. I have recorded this issues and sent it through the feedback. And they have recommended some system changes to try to fix this but that didnt work. They also just sent an OTA update and that issues happens less but its still happens. I love the color and the readability is great especially at night but i jeed the TTS to work like it should without it pauseing in the middle of a paragraph. I still gave it a 5 starts despite the TTS issues.

Tons of motion blur/smearing, unreliable calls/sms and a dark screen
I’m a huge e-ink enthusiast with a collection of devices, but I decided to try this one since it’s new. Unfortunately, the e-ink driver is poorly programmed — whenever there’s motion, like scrolling, there’s terrible smearing and motion blur that quickly causes eye strain and headaches. I also tested the Boox Mira Pro Color, and it has the exact same issue, which is extremely frustrating. I honestly wonder if the team developing these drivers actually uses these devices. For comparison, my Boox Palma 2 (non-Pro, black-and-white) and Boox Mira Pro (non-color) both perform excellently. Whatever Boox is doing with this new generation of devices is a major step backward. The motion blur seems to be some kind of trick to make the e-ink appear smoother, but it just ruins the experience.I’d recommend getting the regular Palma 2 or checking out the Viwoods devices instead — their displays are far better tuned. The latest Boox models are a hard pass for me.As a side note, the new phone/SMS functionality added in a recent update is unreliable. It randomly stops working and requires a factory reset to fix, only to break again later. I’ve had to reset my device several times. I ended up returning my Palma 2 Pro because of this, and the display was also noticeably dark and hard to use in low light.

    Good but could be better
I love the idea of a phone sized e-reader that fits in my bag and I can take on the go. My issue with the Palma 2 Pro is more with the software. There are other color e-ink devices on the market that have managed to have a better screen without the ghosting issue. For the piece of the device I shouldn’t have to compromise clarity of the pictures for low to no ghosting. I hope that’s a change that can be made with an update. I am considering returning and getting the Palma 2. At this point the color isn’t make it worth the price. Also, the battery life can be better. Turning off the WiFi didn’t help to extend until I put the device in airplane mode. Overall, it’s a decent device but I’m unsure if the price matches the value. And the biggest let down……no IP rating!! All this money and it’s not water resistant. Even low level android phones are water resistant.

If you’re a fan of the Palma, this one is Fantastic!
I love it! I had the first Palma and really liked it. The size, the OS and everything. Finally heard about this one AND it has color? Yes please! I’m a bigger fan of using the Kindle app. It allows real immersive reading (audio book & book) which is what I look for now. It also has a small speaker for your audiobooks so Bluetooth isn’t required. Yes it is pricey but for me it ticks all the boxes I have for an ereader! Edit: Please for the love of everything ADJUST the “BOOX EinkWise” options if it’s too dark or just not to your liking. There’s lots of options. It is not a one size fits all deal. Also I have noticed zero yellowing. I also have no desire to get a stylus or use a sim. This has replaced 2 kindles and and iPad mini. I love ereaders and this one really fits all my needs. If you’ve use a Palma and liked it, then you already know your way around this one.

    Needs major improvement
Disappointed. I tried to gaslight myself into loving this but unfortunately I will be returning. I experienced lagging, horrible ghosting regardless of settings. I feel for $400 I should have to have my refresh set to every tap and on top of that have to manually refresh the page. I know with color eink the color isn’t going to be super vibrant, I have had other color ereaders so I know what to expect however I dont know if its just the one I happen to get but the colors were super super muted and if I changed the settings it would ether be that or super splotchy. Feel there are some major kinks that need to worked out especially for the price tag. Also if you hate yellowing do expect it to also happen in this device. I hardly noticed it on my other color ereader but this one just was so noticeable its all I could focus on when trying to read.

    I love my new palma!!!!
Okay, when it first arrived, I thought about returning because of the ghosting and the text wasn’t clear, but once I turned on the high-resolution mode, everything changed! I love it, and the screen darkness doesn’t really bother me. You can just turn on the screen light so not sure why that’s an issue. Bottom line is a bit yellower than the other part of the screen but that happened with my previous palma 2 as well and it’s not horrible. It’s not a deal breaker for me anyway overall I love my new palma pro 🩷

    Wanted to love it!
I really really really wanted to love the Boox Palma2 Pro! I waited so long for it to be released thinking it was going to be amazing but it wasn’t for me. The color saturation was so frustrating to change in each app. It was distracting. The biggest thing that made me decide to return it was the back light. I had done so much research on the Palma2 pro but no one had mentioned this in their review. The back light, even on low, made a light rim around the right, top and left side of the screen. It would disappear when the back light was completely off in the sun but when reading at night I couldn’t stop staring at it which further distracted me. I couldn’t look past it and would result in using my kindle oasis or my iPhone which defeated the purpose of buying this. It was just so expensive I couldn’t rationalize keeping it. So I sent it back. So sad it didn’t fit my needs. I’m looking at purchasing a kobo colour now.
