Excellent Device for Less Phone Fixation
Fantastic for someone looking to keep access to essential apps (banking, work apps, etc) but avoiding clutter and phone overuse. I use verizon which it said would not work but figured I would try it out and it works perfectly fine. Very sturdy as I work in a busy environment and have dropped it a few times. Excellent battery life and very simple to learn the functions of, been having a lot of fun learning how to type quickly with T9, but there are options for touchscreen keyboards. For the price, it can’t be beat and I would recommend this to anyone looking to get away from typical smartphones but needing the functionality of one.

Can’t get the most basic and important thing right
You guys had decades and decades of cell phones. My flip phone from 2005 had better cell service and phone quality than this. What a joke. Every time I made a phone call people wouldn’t be able to hear me good, it sounded like I was underwater. How can a phone in 2025 be this bad? Walmart Android phones that are $60 sound better. The only positive thing I can say is that the phone itself is actually nice and feels good but other than that, it’s junk.

Built To Take It
I’ve own a few alleged “rugged” flip phones and this one outshines them all. From the moment you unbox it, you’ll be struck by its heft. I’ve read review about people “downgrading” from smart phones so as to use their phones less with this product. I am just the opposite and just about anything you can do on a smart phone you can do on this phone, as well. The internet is a breeze on this phone, but of course the screen is smaller. I’ve also had it slide completely off a forklift and it didn’t suffer even a scratch when it hit the cement. It comes with a lot of bells and whistles and is water-proof. I also keep it in low power mode (which doesn’t affect performance) and it will last a day or more (depending on usage). It is also equipped with wifi and thus when using THAT, you aren’t using your own data or minutes . A great little workhorse that has excellent sound and extensively VERY fast internet speed. I love this phone.

A great step away from smartphone addiction — not perfect, but absolutely worth it
In 2023, I made the decision to get rid of my smartphone. I sold my latest-model Samsung, and with the money, bought a nikon camera and this flip phone. After a lot of research, I landed on the CAT S22. It’s not a true “dumb phone,” but it’s dumb enough — just enough to break the cycle of doomscrolling and mindless app use, while still giving me the basic functionality I need. Why I chose this phone — and why I’m glad I did:I needed something that could still run a few essential apps — Google Maps, mobile banking, audiobooks, even the daycare pickup app for my nephew. The CAT S22 can download most apps (though some don’t work well on the small screen), and that balance has been perfect for me.What I love:-My brain is quieter. Truly. Moving to this simpler phone has made a noticeable difference in my mental clarity and overall peace. No more being sucked into social media. No more wasted hours scrolling.-It does what I need. I can text (I use a different keyboard with swype + voice input), call, listen to audiobooks, check maps, and run a few key apps.-Great speakers. Calls are clear, and I can play music or audiobooks and hear them just fine.-Good battery life. A full charge lasts a day or two, and I love that the battery is removable — I brought a spare on a camping trip and just swapped it out.-Strong service. I get the same level of signal and reception as my husband’s high-end smartphone.-The flip phone vibe is fun. Honestly, people think I’m some kind of secret agent when I snap it shut. That alone adds a little joy to the day.Downsides — and why I still stick with it:-Durability is iffy. I’ve gone through three of these phones. Thankfully, I bought the insurance plan, and each time the hinge broke (from dropping it), they replaced it. The flip top just isn’t as sturdy as I hoped, so this phone is not for the super clumsy (guilty).-The camera is awful. Potato quality. Don’t plan on using this for pictures. I use a separate camera for that now and I’m much happier with the results.-Small screen = limited app functionality. Some apps just won’t run or display properly — which is actually kind of the point. I didn’t want something addictive, just something functional.-No headphone jack. I use Bluetooth when needed, but it’s worth noting for anyone who still relies on wired headphones.Bottom line: If you’re looking to simplify your digital life, stay off social media, and break free from the smartphone trap — without giving up all modern function — the CAT S22 is a great in-between. It’s not perfect, but it’s exactly what I needed to reset my tech habits, stay connected, and live a little more intentionally.

it is a pretty solid dumbphone – smartphone hybrid
I got this phone as a way to step back from my iPhone 12 and break free from the global smartphone addiction. I wanted to switch to either the Light Phone 2 or the Minimal Phone, but they were both on pre-order, so I found this awesome deal for under $70.I’m not really a fan of the built-in T-Mobile apps since I use Mint, and I wasn’t too keen on the Google apps either, at first.Coming from an iPhone, everything else feels pretty foreign to me. The number of messenger apps on the Play Store is just nuts—there are so many that look alike! I don’t get how people find that better unless you’re really into tech; it just feels like a drain on your time and energy to figure it all out.Once I got into the phone, I turned off all the non-essential apps like maps and Chrome. I downloaded Google Messenger and Google Contacts, which was cool because I can tweak my contacts and organize them from either my phone or computer. Now I’m rocking this old-school rugged flip phone from around 2001. I can go all weekend without charging it, and folks over 40 always seem super curious about it. Their top question? “Do you have to use T-9 or re-learn it? I couldn’t handle that!” But nah, it’s still a touchscreen with Android, and the text-to-speech feature is pretty handy. If you want to use it like a smartphone, Google Assistant’s there too, but it doesn’t make it so easy that you end up mindlessly scrolling at dinner or while watching TV.I’m still planning on getting a Minimal Phone for that Blackberry vibe with an e-ink screen, but this phone is perfect for anyone wanting a tough device to use while stepping away from the madness of Silicon Valley.

Great phone second only to the alt mive style folder 2. Does almost everything I need the only thing it’s missing is NFC and long battery life but all you have to do is carry your cards and bring a portable charger. Recommend looking up guides for customisation to make this thing your treasure.

Didn’t work with any sims. I tried Optus and Telstra, both failed to be detected. Don’t buy if in Australia.
