Grandkids love it – but you MUST have a phone to use with the VR goggles
Didn’t realize it when we bought it, but the VR goggles use your own phone as the screen. Definitely not a problem, but would like that to have been more obvious in the description. Also, the app requires quite a bit of memory, so keep that in mind! The kids were amazed by the VR part and love it. They also love reading the book that goes with it. Definitely worth the price! We are setting up an old phone for them to keep with it, so they don’t have to use mom & dad’s!

Buy this for the book, not for the VR
I was really excited when I ordered this Virtual Reality Animals set for my son. He had never tried a virtual reality headset before, so I was hoping this would be a nice experience for him. But after installing the app and trying it myself, I was very disappointed. You have to use your cell phone as the screen. There is a large clip on the front of the goggles where you attach your phone, and then you adjust the goggles until they are comfortable. The experience leaves a lot to be desired. All you can do is watch the videos that come with the app, and the quality is not that great. My son thought it was pretty cool, but then I let him try my Meta Quest 2 VR headset, and he quickly realized how terrible the “VR” experience was with this Abacus headset. The book that is included, however, is really nice. The pictures of the animals are beautiful, and there is so much information on each page. My son spent a few hours looking at the book the first day when I gave it to him, but I don’t think he will use the VR headset again. I recommend that Abacus lower the price and sell the book separately. If they want to provide an engaging VR experience, they need to include a free app that is compatible with the most common VR headsets, such as the Meta Quest 2. Only then would this bundle be worth the price.

Coolest gift!
Great product! Very user friendly. Bought for my animal loving 5 year old. He’s able to work it on his own no problem! Super cool and educational!

My daughter LOVES this
This is a great product! I almost didn’t buy it based on the reviews that I read, but it was #1 on my daughter’s list so I took the chance, and I’m glad I did. She LOVES it. I mean, it’s not like a real VR headset but it’s also not $300. I think it’s well worth the money, it works well and I can also wear it while wearing my glasses, which is a plus. It is heavy and hurts my nose to wear it, though, so I just hold it up to my face like binoculars. The little movies are short so holding it is not a problem.

4 -12 year olds Love it.
The viewer uses your cell phone like the old Google cardboard. We were unsure how good the immersive experience would be. The viewer seems pretty substantial and has held up to six kids wanting to share it. The animals book is great. we will buy more for birthdays in a few months.

Great performance for the $$ spent
This was on our granddaughter’s wish list. What a fun gift we all enjoyed using it. It is definitely worth the money. It is a great introduction to a reality toy.

The app does not work
This game sounds and looks super impressive but it’s a bit of a sham and the app does not work at all

Very disappointed and feel a bit conned. The book is lovely but the VR is actually where you have to scan a QR code on each page with your phone and it links to a video. Then you can either watch on a phone or click your phone into the VR headset and watch it that way. Not at all what I thought I was buying for €60

OMG this is the most amazing educational thing I’ve ever got for my son. He is just turned 4 and interested in it but it is heavy for him and he is not quite getting it how to hold and that you can move around to see things behind you and all, but he viewed a couple of videos. It is so fascinating. You can see a spider from underneath as if you are a smallest insect and giant spider the size of a dinosaur crawls over on its way somewhere. Or you can look at the beehive from inside. It is unbelievable. I can not even begin to describe how awesome it is. I wouldn’t even imagine such a toy back when I was a kid. I am definitely going to buy other series of those. They are the best. We are going to start a collection!

The video with the goggles isn’t HD. Used an iPhone 15.
