This is perfect, this book is hard cover and includes How to Code book 1, 2, 3 and 4. If you buy them separately you will around $7 to $8 for each and they are not hardcover. So this was a surprise for me because the description does not explain that it is a binder of the 4 books.

My 9 year old son got a little excited, worked on it some and then seemed to forget about it. I got him into it again another day and he got very excited about doing somet of it again, then forgot about it again. Maybe it’s just not his thing. 🙁

So far, so good.
We haven’t tried working the programs yet, but the first chapter looked great. A lesson followed by several exercises. It’s written in an easy to understand format, using free programs that can be downloaded off the ‘net. Directed at a younger age, but still good for older children. I’m actually thinking of buying one for myself.

I bought this book for a student who wanted to know more about “coding” and what it is. Well, I chose the perfect book because the student used her Winter Break and learned from this book. It’s a user-friendly, easy to understand book.

good thorough book
It’s broken up nicely and features Scratch, Logo, and Python exercises. Also explains html. It’s broken up with tabs and is spiral bound. Great purchase for young beginner coders.

This book is a wonderful introduction to program for older elementary and middle school kids. It covers Logo, Scratch, Python, HTML, and JavaScript in a fun and accessible way. Each language is taught with fun robot illustrations and easy to understand programming examples, and each chapter ends with a series of exercises so that the child can make sure they grasp the concepts. My son had originally signed this book out of the library, but we all loved it so much that we absolutely had to have a copy to keep.Basic concepts like simple loops, variables, and if statements are covers. The HTML section introduces basic markup language (and encourages the use of local webpages for practice rather than ones hosted online). There is a useful glossary and index at the rare of the book. There is no software included with this book, but it does contain links for where the required compilers and programming environments can be found online for free. (In some cases the programming environments can be used either online or downloaded for offline use.)Note that this a compilation of Max Wainewright’s individual books entitled “How to Code” Levels 1 – 4.

It’s simply explained in a sequence of examples that can be easily followed for a “dummy” like myselfMy advice is to read and digest the information In each section of the book before rushing to your computer – then try it out step by step! It will start to make some sense!I think this would be a good book for the beginner

Le encantó a mi hijo de 8 años, se puso con él de manera autodidacta y consiguió hacer muchas cosas chulas. Un buen entretenimiento de confinamiento.

This book is really great for kids or beginners! It has really easy to understand diagrams to help explain the process. I bought this for my 11 year old brother, but my 7 year old sister is really liking it too!
