We love it!
I bought this after deciding that I wanted one simple and small enough for my K-2nd graders to be able to use without getting bombarded with technical info. The pictures are clear, and the little blurp about each rock/mineral was fun for us and the kids. They were super excited about the back pages where they could write down their finds! We took it on a hike the other day and were able to keep it in a hoody pocket and pull it out and identify 3 different stone formations. It had the kids hunting for different ones for over an hour before they just played swords with fallen branches LOL. Great purchase for the money!

Book is fine.
This book has some good information. Each of the last 50 pages is a form to record rocks that you find (properties, notes, location, etc.). This does not seem like elementary reading, but more like 6-7 grade information.

Great Book for People Interested in Rock Collecting!
This is a great little 218 paged book. It has lots of tips and tricks about anything you need to know to get started at the hobby of rock collecting. It has more scientific information than I expected and has lots of good suggestions as to how to organize your rock collection and identifying specimens. It is a very organized and clean (aesthetically) book, and it has lots of pictures. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a good introduction to the world of geology.

This is awesome!
I got this for my 9 year old rock loving granddaughter – this book is fantastic! She spent the summer months with this book in her hands everywhere she went documenting and learning about her local environment. She loves it – she’s on a quest to learn all the rocks and find them.
