Great value for the money with a nice bonus!
My kid is obsessed with everything retro so I thought I’d give this a try. It was a wonderful surprise! It plugs into a CRTV and comes with a nostalgic NES style controller for the two player games. I loved that as an extra. It came with all the necessary cords and a usb. A similar size to a Gameboy (fits in your hand) but clearly lighter materials. If your kid is tough on toys this may not last as long but I think it’s worth the cost. The games all have a retro look and feel which is perfect. The games are all knock-offs but it’s still fun. We can’t wait to use it more.

If you can imagine yourself enjoying low budget NES games you’ll probably love this
This is one of the more thought-provoking products I’ve ever received. On the one hand this isn’t for me. It’s a retro gaming device with brand new 8-bit games on it. I’ve never heard of any of them and there are at least a few NES clones among the games. I played a Bomberman clone, a Contra clone, and an Airwolf clone. But they all had really wacky names such as Boy Sport, Woody Story, Panda, Happy Angel, Mars Climber, Rescue Kuck, Air Umbrella, Brush, Difference, and UFO Race. Some of my favorite games on this system were the Contra clone because it’s nearly identical and a new game called Police versus Thief. But I only tried out about 20 games before I realize this isn’t something I’m going to get a lot of entertainment out of. There may be more good games on here. They just don’t seem to have enough replay value for me.What this system does right is that it’s designed extremely well. The handheld itself fires right up. The sound is easy to control with a sliding volume knob and the sound quality is crisp and doesn’t sound tinny at all. Switching between games is flawless. Loading games is flawless. When you want to go back to the main menu there’s a button in the center of the device that instantly takes you back to it. All the games are designed extremely well. I didn’t experience any lag in sound or video.Build quality of the device is also excellent. It looks amazing. It’s small enough that it can easily fit in your pocket. And it seems about as durable as an old game boy. Charging it is also easy. It has a USBC port on the front of it. And it’s also extremely lightweight. Probably about half what a Game Boy weighs if I remember correctly.Nostalgia is definitely there on this product. You’ll feel like you’re playing an old NES again. The best way I could describe these games would be to call them bargain Nintendo games. It’s a really unique system. It seems like out of the 256 games on here the majority of them are original and designed from scratch. So in the modern era if you’re still a fan of old 8-bit NES games you’re probably going to get a kick out of this system too. What you’re getting for the price is a really good value. It’s just not a system that’s going to be for everyone. Not everyone still wants to play NES games these days and when they do it’s usually AAA titles. But if you can imagine yourself enjoying low budget NES games with graphics that are on par with some of the earlier titles to come out on that system then you’ll probably love this.

Fun Retro Gaming, but Not Perfect
I got this retro handheld game console for some nostalgic, on-the-go gaming. It’s portable and lightweight — easy to take in a bag, and you can even connect it to a TV using the AV cable it comes with. The 3-inch screen is small, so visuals feel cramped sometimes.

Great Retro Handheld 🎮
This transparent retro console is small, lightweight, and perfect for gaming on the go. The clear display and 500+ built-in classic games make it a fun way to relive childhood memories. The kids love the wide variety of mini-games, and it’s ideal for travel or casual play. A fantastic little console!

Not the best handheld
While this handheld sports a nice retro look, throwing it back to those popular transparent shells which I still love to this day, it’s really not a great toy. When they say “256 Classic Games” what they mean is 256 attempts at classic games. It seems that ALL of the games are budget versions of other games you may have remembered as a kid, copying the basic one or two gameplay mechanics and throwing budget sprites onto them. The buttons are really bad and don’t feel good at all to use. I had hopes for this but it’s just not up to par.

A decent bargain Handheld Console w/fun 8-bit games but may not meet your ‘brand’ expectations
You’ve probably seen many ads for these ‘Retro Game Consoles’. You get the impression that you’ll be playing old classics like Excitebike or Super Mario Brothers. My guess is that some of ‘those’ consoles do in fact have classics like that loaded on them or the ability to modify them to play old classics like an emulator…but this is ‘not’ one of those Retro Game Consoles. Now, that’s not the worst thing in the world. You should just change your expectations if that’s what you seek. What does it get right? As far as ability to go 2-player, an extra NES-style 8-bit game controller w/USB-C connection & ability to plug into a TV set complete with the cable to hook it up?!? Okay, that’s a really good value for all that…seriously. I’m not upset about what I got here. They never said they were going to give me the games I ‘expected’. But what might surprise you is that the games that are on this function, more or less, like those 8-bit NES classics. No, you won’t see the old characters but if you scan through games and play them you’ll quickly realize that nearly all of them are like twins or dopplegangers of NES classics…see what I mean? How much does it matter to you that the game is called “Mario” if it functions just like & plays just like ‘Mario’. If you want some quick and easy fun 8-bit games, it does deliver on that. The Sound Quality is decent. You have a little speaker in the bottom that sends the various chirps & blips…you don’t need stereo sound…this is old school 8-bit. It’s loud enough to keep you happy & annoy relatives on long car trips.Durability & Quality…okay, here is where things get not so stellar. It’s really not a terribly durable game console. If you hand this to a kid…don’t be surprised if it’s not alive in a few months. You really should buy this for a bit older folks, not really kid-friendly…as weird as that is. it’s better for adults or young gamers that want a retro experience but I wouldn’t give it to your kid in the backseat. It’s just not that kind of durable. It had fit & finish issues with the manufacturing. The screen isn’t placed inside perfectly fit. It removes a little under a millimeter or two of screen space. It doesn’t kill the game experience but it was a let down to see that. Still…it didn’t really take away from my ability to play the games & I quickly got used to it.The games? You get 256 games, for real, no more or less. Most of them look like someone took an 8-bit rom file of an NES game & ran it through some sort of AI script that changes every third note to make it a new game…but it’s basically a bunch of old NES games under new identities. If that sounds intriguing to you, you’ll be happy to know that you can hook this up to a TV with the included NES controller so you and your friends starved for an 80s style gaming experience can live it up old school style. It functions well in all the categories it advertises for. I wish it hadn’t had the screen issue. If the case was just a bit more durable & the screen issue wasn’t a thing…it could easily be a 4-star bargain package of old school style games…but it just had too many fit & finish issues for me to give it that high of a rating. As it stands though I don’t think you’ll be disappointed with what you get.
