This is the most important book I have ever read in terms of personal development. I have an MBA from on of the top business schools in the country. Yet, the material in this book is worth ten times the tuition I paid to earn that degree–it’s that good!! It was recommended to me by one of my best friends. After listening to the audio CD, I can see why. What Brian Tracy does is so much more than what the title implies. He challenges the reader by asking profoundly introspective questions that dig deep into your personal psyche–especially in Chapter Two. This book literally grabbed me by the throat because (1) it is extremely valuable advice, the kind of wisdom that a father would give to a son or mother to a daughter; and (2) it motivated me to achieve some goals that I had within myself that I thought were impossible. This book is a must-read for anyone who views themselve as a high-achiever. If you are someone who is comfortable with mediocrity, don’t read this book. Goals! is the kind of book I wish I had read when I was a teenager in high-school or college. If this book doesn’t light a fire within you belly to achieve your fullest potential, then nothing else will. Highly recommended…

Not a significant improvement if any at all from the 2nd Edition of GOALS!, in fact I liked the 2nd Edition better because it was easier & more entertaining to read & the editing was smoother.

Wonderful Book!
I have never really written my goals, but after reading this book I have started to and I can already see the difference it makes in my discipline and persistence in attaining my desired goals. Whenever I am tempted to go astray, I can visualize my goals on paper and they might as well be etched in stone. Before, I could just delude myself and compromise but not anymore. I would recommend this book to anyone that really wants to succeed in every aspect of life.

I am on my 3rd reading of the book. I agree that we SHOULD all know how to set goals but I doubt we really do or at least know how to do it well anyway. Mr. Tracy gives you not only the whys and wherefores of goal-setting but, more importantly, the HOW. He breaks it down into steps. I reccomend reading the book straight through once or twice, then dedicating three days or so to each chapter. That is, reading through the chapter, taking notes if that is how best you learn, doing the “excercises” on the “checklist” at the end of the chapter, then putting it aside for a day or so to “digest”. I agree that Mr.Tracy is short on research here, but there are other, more “scholarly” books out there that can fill the gap. The bibliography is extensive and should keep you reading for a long time should you wish to delve more deeply.
