Broken by Win 24H2: Discovered Vendor Duplicated Machine IDs On Multiple Machines: Was 5 Star Review
Update one year later. This Lenovo (two actually) has been a good machine but after recently upgrading to Win24H2 and losing file sharing I discovered that the vendor, ITS, installed Windows 11 23H2 images WITH THE SAME MACHINE ID on BOTH machines. After losing a couple of days work sorting out networking I found that duplicated Security Identifiers, SID, are created when Windows was improperly installed by ITS. Win24H2 deliberately breaks SMB networking when this is found essentially “bricking” one machine from operating on the same file shared network. I’m very unhappy with this vendor and though I’m not alleging that they have committed software piracy this is how one would do it. It’s either that or ineptitude. The only resolution to this issue is to run a very risky utility to reset the machines SID.Review was: Fast, Clean Windows Without Bloatware, Low Heat, Lightweight with Wireless/Wired Ethernet. The title pretty much says it all. I bought this machine to use as a portable around the house and decided it worked well enough to replace an existing and aging “desktop” which was actually a big “floor top” power-hungry big-iron monster. The pre-installed Win 11 had zero bloatware – the only element I removed was MS One Drive which is unavoidable in any Win installation. I can’t feel any heat under moderate to heavy CPU load. Plays three open video windows, TV, Security Cam and browser pop-out without any stuttering. Much lighter than my wife’s Dell. The wired Ethernet is a nice bonus when moving large files. The only “complaint” I had about this unit was that I only had one: A few days later I bought a second unit to use on my electronics workbench for test and measurement. I don’t miss the two big behemoth floor tops with their loud fans and waste heat. If this unit has a fan I’ve never heard it run – the wife’s Dell, under load, sounds like a wind tunnel. The power savings alone will provide payback in about a year. Get the Lenovo today.Update April 2025: I lived with two of these machines for almost 8 months and am considering buying a third to actually use as a portable laptop. For those concerned about the keyboard buy an external USB keyboard and mouse. One of my machines, with external keyboard mouse and monitor, hasn’t had the lid opened in months…I see some reviews here discussing that the box had been opened and that the machines were therefore refurbished. When I bought these last in September 2024 there was a disclosure in the product details. It reads: “Disclosure: Brand New Computer has been resealed to upgrade the Memory/SSD.” That disclosure is still in the current details.Update one year later. This Lenovo (two actually) has been a good machine but after recently upgrading to Win24H2 and losing file sharing I discovered that the vendor, ITS, installed Windows 11 23H2 images WITH THE SAME MACHINE ID on BOTH machines. The only resolution to this issue is to run a very risky utility to reset the machines SID.Update 2: The vendor offered to re-image the drive at no charge to eliminate the duplicate SID and pay shipping. Fortunately I was able to fix the issue by running an SID change utility on one machine to resolve the problem. Back to 5 stars.

Able to run LLM locally with it’s built in NVIDIA graphics
I got this gaming computer not only for games but to experiment with AI. It is able to run offline locally many of the models now publicly available with good response time. Of course it is good with gaming but for those who want to learn more about AI and run LLM models locally it is also good. My one complaint is I often got error messages about not using an official power supply, when I was using the one that came in the box. I finally went into BIOS to turn the warning off. Other than that it has had no flaws.

Disappointed: Warranty Trick and Terrible Audio
At first, I thought this laptop was great — it looked good, felt lightweight, and seemed like a solid choice overall. However, once I started setting it up, I was surprised and disappointed to find that the warranty had already started in December 2024, even though I bought it on September 1, 2025. That feels completely unfair and misleading.Another major downside is the speaker quality. The built-in speakers sound very poor — muffled and distorted. The sound is much better when using headphones, but for a new device, I expected decent speaker performance.Overall, I had high hopes, but these issues have left me quite dissatisfied.

A great choice with memory and features
It’s a good deal and well constructed. The selection of ports is convenient including usbc and hdmi . Plenty of memory, easy to set up. Convenient size and weigh battery life is good. I like the screen too.
