The Best Book on How to Coach AND Grow a Coaching Business!
A Must-Read for New and Seasoned Coaches AlikeThe Thriving Coach is one of the most comprehensive and insightful guides to life coaching I’ve read yet. Frank Macri doesn’t just teach coaching techniques—he shares a full roadmap for how to actually thrive as a coach, from mastering transformational tools to building a real business that aligns with your values. The depth of resources and frameworks in this book are incredible, especially for helping clients move past limiting beliefs and into meaningful breakthroughs. What really stood out to me is how much time Frank devotes to the business of coaching. As coaches, it’s not enough to know how to hold space—we also have to become entrepreneurs, learn to market ourselves authentically, and build systems that support a sustainable business. Frank breaks all of this down in a way that feels totally doable and exciting. His tone is super conversational, like getting advice from your coaching bestie over coffee. It’s packed with value but never overwhelming. He breaks complex issues down into a step-by-step system for success. As someone who’s been coaching for over a decade, I found this book to be a powerful refresher on foundational skills and mindsets that are easy to forget when you’re deep in client work. It reminded me that I don’t need to be perfect to be impactful—just present, curious, and willing to grow.Whether you’re just starting your coaching journey or you’ve been at it for years, this book will meet you where you are and help you go further. I can’t recommend it enough.

Valuable and practical coaching information delivered in an encouraging and positive tone
Frank is a successful, thoughtful, and enthusiastic coach, and his book is a helpful resource for those wondering what coaching is all about or those wishing to become more effective and accomplished coaches themselves.Refreshingly, this book opens with Frank humbly detailing his “humiliating first coaching session.” It’s a perfect introduction to a book that sets out to assist others in improving their skills as coaches and also as a business owners. The book is written in a very down-to-earth and positive tone that is inspiring and engaging.Throughout the book, Frank uses examples and real life scenarios in chapters that focus on what coaching actually is (and is not), how to have a coach mindset and assist clients in identifying their challenges as well as their desires, and understanding the Rulebook Coaching Method. The Thriving Coach is an enjoyable read that is packed with valuable information and relatable situations. The later chapters explore the business aspect of coaching and focus on business models, attracting clients, choosing a niche, setting goals, and building your practice. Again, the chapters are well thought out with practical advice and actions that are easy to follow. This is an extremely helpful and well written book for emerging coaches to add to their library.

    Engaging, practical, essential reading
This engaging and readable book is a fantastic resource for anyone who is thinking about (or even already is) a life coach. It’s accessible and pragmatic, covering not just the fundamentals of coaching, but also the practicalities of operating a business. From the starting point of what it means to be a life coach, to how we should think about what “success” in coaching means, this book is indispensable. What I most liked about the book is that it breaks down coaching into easy-to-understand, yet potent and effective, techniques and questions. If you want to change lives through coaching, Frank shows how that’s within your grasp. One of the chapters discusses the Golden Coaching Question, and it’s the heart of the book, in my opinion. You shouldn’t miss it!I also loved how it moved from the fundaments of coaching to the pragmatic questions about how to run a business as a life coach: what is your goal? what do you want from the business? how can you find the market for your services? Frank offers advice that’s vital and fresh.Be sure to get this book!
