I decided to pick up this ORAODA 45W GaN USB-C charger because I was frankly tired of the endless sea of identical, boring white plastic bricks cluttering my travel bag. I wanted something that could handle my iPhone and iPad simultaneously without taking up much space, and the futuristic “Mecha” design got my attention immediately. It looked less like an appliance and more like a prop from a sci-fi movie, which I found surprisingly appealing. Beyond the looks, the promise of GaN technology – which generally means big power in a tiny footprint – and the foldable plug made it seem like the perfect replacement for my bulky older adapters. The idea of a touch-controlled night light built right into the charger was just the icing on the cake, offering a bit of utility for those dark hotel rooms where you can never find the outlet. Using it has been a genuinely fun experience, which is a weird thing to say about a wall adapter. The build quality feels dense and premium, with a matte finish that doesn’t attract fingerprints. I was really amused by the touch-sensitive switch on top – a simple tap turns on a soft breathing light that pulses gently. It is not bright enough to keep you awake, but it gives off just enough glow to help you guide your cable into the port without fumbling around in the dark. Performance-wise, it delivers. When I plugged in just my phone, it triggered the fast charging protocols immediately. Even when I connected my tablet alongside the phone, both devices continued to charge at a respectable speed. The heat management is excellent as well; thanks to the thermal monitoring, the brick barely gets warm to the touch, even after an hour of juicing up two thirsty devices.However, there are a few limitations you should know before buying. The 45W rating is the total output, not per port when both are in use. If you plug in two devices, it splits the power (likely 25W and 20W), which is fine for phones but won’t sustain a laptop effectively. The labeling on the back regarding which port offers what power distribution is also confusing and hard to read. While the “robot” aesthetic is cool, the orange-yellow LED is more of a gimmick than a useful feature in my opinion. But overall, it is a reliable, stylish accessory that adds a bit of personality to your tech kit, provided you aren’t trying to power a heavy-duty workstation.Bottom line:This charger is an excellent choice for anyone who wants to break away from boring accessories and add some personality to their tech collection. It is compact enough for any travel bag and powerful enough to keep your mobile devices running efficiently. While it is not a power house to fast-charge a laptop while a phone is connected, the unique design, compact form-factor, and pretty night light make it a worthy purchase. Works and cool looking.
This charger does a fine job of connecting to to my drives and powering them. It’s heavy and constructed well, I really like the attention to detail in the design, very cool. The one thing I don’t like is the orange LED is really faint and comes out more of a pale yellow.
