Best wirless controller
This is the best wireless controller I have used in a long time. I have been a fan of 8bitdo’s controllers in the past. However, I have only used their more affordable controllers (wired and wireless). This is absolutely worth the premium price.Firstly, the joysticks. The hall effect joysticks will never suffer from stick drift. This tech has been available since the early 2000s. They feel fantastic, are responsive, and have adjustable deadzones.The face buttons feel good. They are not harshly clicky like some of Razer’s offerings. All 4 of my buttons feel consistent to depress. Their finish is smooth and nice. Pretty standard, but well executed.The triggers are analogue rather than digital. This means they output a range of data rather than on/off. This is useful for games that support them (most commonly racing games, but works great for Gamecube titles). They feel good to me. Nothing remarkable, but standard and well built.The D-pad is why I tend to love 8bitdo’s controllers. I have been exclusively using their SN-30 for platformers since I picked mine up years ago for this reason. The D-pad on the Ultimate controller is a bit different from those D-pads on the sn-30, BUT the D-pad is still excellent. I’ve been playing 2D platformers, old school RPGS (FF pixel remasters), and fighting games using the D-pad on the Ultimate controller and it both feels good and is accurate.There are 2 paddles on the back that can be mapped to any other button on the controller. The only change I could possible make to this controller would be the ability to map these paddles without the use of their software. However, it is easy to complete with said software. This can be used to remap other buttons as well, and create up to 3 profiles that can be swapped using the controller at any time.Of course, this can be used both on PC and on the Nintendo Switch. Before picking this up, I only had an official Pro controller. While I do feel the official controller feels more “premium” in the hands, 8bitdo’s Ultimate controller is fantastic for use on the Switch as well. While most of my use has been on my PC, I have used it on Switch to play multiplayer games with friends. The wireless performance is great and no complaints there.Battery life is also great. I don’t think it lasts me quite as long on average as the official Nintendo Pro controller, but performance is still fantastic.Overall, the best wireless controller I have used in a long time. Pairing is simple, performance is great, battery life is great, and the feel is fantastic.

fantastic controller with one huge downside
this is by far the best controller i’ve ever used. the battery life is huge (20 hours easily), the charger dock included is super nice, the software customization is great, and the hall sticks are super nice.BUT! the triggers have a massive design flaw, where the plastic that registers the button presses degrades rapidly. after about 8 months of use, my right trigger had 0% input. i contacted the company and they sent me replacenent items free because it was still in warranty. about 2 weeks later they arrived, and changing the defective pieces inside took about 15 minutes. everything worked great, until those pieces broke inside the controller again… it hasn’t even been 4 months and now both of my triggers are busted again. i can’t get replacement parts because the controller is out of warranty, and they don’t sell any on the website.8bitdo claims to have fixed this design flaw with the newer version of this Ultimate controller that just released a few months back, but i haven’t pulled the trigger (lol) on buying that because… aside from the defective triggers, this one still works like brand new, and i’m a little salty about how such a massive issue could have gone unnoticed before they sent these out

Great Controller
Great controller! Works well with both PC and switch and no dead zones, exactly what I wanted! The lighting effects are also pretty cool, but they get old and kind of distracting. The dongle, bluetooth, and the charging dock work flawlessly.

Need to update firmware before pairing with Nintendo switch 2.

Lo utilizo con la base de carga conectada a la PC (lo cual sirve como extensor del dongle 2.4 ghz) lo que me permite una conexión instantánea, y lo tengo configurado a la Nintendo Switch por medio de Bluetooth. Con un solo interruptor en la parte de atrás puedo alternar entre 2.4 y Bluetooth por lo que puedo utilizar el control tanto para PC como para Switch y hacer el cambio en cuestión de segundos sin tener que emparejar de nuevo o desvincular o algo similar. El control se siente muy premium y de muy buena calidad (como un control de Xbox series) y las palancas son Hall effect, lo que significa que no presentarán drift. La cruceta es muy buena para plataformeros y los gatillos y botones se sienten muy bien

Simply the best controller you can get outside of the short-lasting offical Xbox controllers. I have 7 controllers who either drift or have a bad connection or bad button.I’ve been using the 8Bitdo for 3 months now and I love it. It’s not at all obvious that the controller comes with an excellent base that not only docks to charge with a cool bias light under it while working, but also the holder for the wireless dongle.The Dpad is great for fighting games that require you to slide your thumb, the sticks are good with light resistance and smooth motion, not too hard to press them, with a reassuringly dampened click at the base. Not too much travel on the click which is nice. The placement of the paddles is excellent and I rarely if ever click them accidentally. Face buttons, bumpers, and triggers all feel and press like they should and don’t rattle. Everything about this controller is a lot more quiet to use than a stock Xbox controller, especially the Dpad.I did a lot of research to find joysticks that use hall-effect sensors and so far they feel great. The software is excellent as well and allows for an obscene amount of customization and remapping on PC. Switching profiles is quick, and the controller is smart enough to quickly connect to your device as soon as it’s lifted out of the cradle. Once connected which usually takes less than a second, it vibrates to let you know its good. That’s just excellent user experience design.Knowing that the joysticks aren’t going to crap out on me in a year is very reassuring and I feel confidence giving this badboy 5 stars. My only gripe is that to get the version of this controller with hall effect senors, you have to order the Switch version, with the Switch face buttons. You can order Xbox buttons to swap out and I likely will, but it’s still a strange oversight.
