Upgradeable
This is an excellent laptop, and is my 3rd Acer computer. It is thin, quiet, quick, and powerful. I spent a lot of time researching if this particular model, Acer Aspire 5 A515-55G-57H8, was upgradeable. Long story short, it is.There is only one (1) RAM slot available, that came with 8GB already installed. There was a lot of debate as to which DDR4 would work. I currently have the Crucial 16GB DDR4 3200 MT/s (PC4-25600) SODIMM 260-Pin Memory – CT16G4SFRA32A installed and it works. I had a previous notebook hard drive, a 500GB Seagate hybrid hard drive. This was installed and also works without issue.So far, so good.

Great laptop
Great laptop. We now have 2 of them. My son uses his for school and gaming. Great for gaming. I use mine for regular home stuff- bills, shopping, etc. Super thin, great battery life, very nice computer for the price.

Narrow Numeric Keyboard, No Home / Delete Keys
A very nice (and fast) laptop compared to the old Acer Aspire. Nice, BUT they moved the Home & End keys to the 7 & 1 keys. You’ll have to hit NumLock every time to use Home or End, then again to go back to NumLock. Three strokes for the price of one! WORSE is the narrowing of the Numerical keys, like it was some engineers afterthought and he just jammed them in there. If you use numeric keys a lot you find it very difficult getting your fat fingers working these keys. Also . . . . there’s an intermittent connection in the power jack on this unit. As the power connector moves the unit goes in / out of charging. Not sure how long before the power jack IN THE UNIT will need to be replaced.

Great for the price, careful when upgrading
Decent computer fot the price tag, one of the top in that price rangeRun smooth, comfortable, my wife with a better brand really like the design and feel. Bought it for a good price and thought I can upgrade it. The problem was that it has only one slot in total for the RAM and that not all rams works. Had to return two cards because of that. The crusial 2666hz should work, but I haven’t tested it yet.

Pretty good gaming laptop
This was a gift for my daughter so these are her words:This laptop pretty much does what it’s supposed to do. My only complaint would be that it is slow when I’m running Photoshop. I make a lot of gifs and I have to wait up to a minute for the file to save. It shouldn’t do that because the specs of this computer should handle it just fine.

Una excelente laptop
Excelente producto, no pensé conseguirla a ese precio, la tarjeta gráfica es de mucha ayuda al momento de editar imágenes y videos, así como para algunos juegos, recomiendo instalar un disco duro extra para almacenar archivos grandes y usar el SSD solo para Windows y los programas, la batería es aceptable (5-6 horas) si solo se navega por internet y se usa Office, para otros usos intensivos, me ha durado entre 2 a 3 horas, aunque solo viene con una ranura de RAM, he leído que acepta una de 16Gb, cuando haga el cambio lo actualizaré, en fin, vengo de una Dell de 4ta generación y el cambio ha sido brutal, en lo personal, fue una excelente compra.

Screen goes black occasionally
I bought this laptop for school and it works well 98% of the time. I noticed at first while using zoom and word, the screen would turn black and then turn back on (rapidly). Sometimes it wasn’t even the full screen, just a strip. Lately I have noticed while using word and switching through webpages the words become fuzzy and impossible to read. Then once you are done scrolling, a few seconds latter they become normal. For the most part the laptop works great it’s just those few concerning times. I have called customer service once and they instructed me through how to “fix” it. Not looking forward to calling back…
