Impressive
Update: I gave it a whirl on my MSI Leopard with its full watt RTX 2070 Super and Core i7-10750H that could melt an iceberg on Pluto without a declocking courtesy of ThrottleStop. Gave it a full system burn completely unchecked for an hour. CPU peaked a couple smidges under 80C at full tilt while our RTX cardsTwo caveats that require a mention in regards to this laptop:1: I removed the finer sheet of filter material from the large underside air intake not too long after purchasing the leopard in an attempt to mitigate the fai2: I removed as much of the existing thermal interface material as I possibly could and replaced it wThat MSI Tuf A16 running a Ryzen 9 7940HX with a RTX 4070 dgpu. It’s a fairly thin laptop that, unsurprisingly, can get quite toasty without some of the usual tweaking. But on this cooler, it barely gets into the 70’s with both CPU and GPU running flat out with pulling every watt they can find. And it does it without being obnoxiously loud. And in all honesty, having the temps being kept in check by the pad keeps the system fans from going ballistic, which results in much less fan noise overall from the laptop alone. I’m really impressed with its performance.That said, there are a couple of minor downsides. It is a chunky boy, which is kind of unavoidable. The RGB is there, but nothing to write home about. You can flip through a few different modes with the button on the panel, but it doesn’t seem to be possible to turn it off. There is a power button next to the RGB button, but it doesn’t appear to do anything. There’s also no way to turn the fan completely off short of unplugging the power. Not the end of the world though as those studs t’s very quiet when the fan is turned all the way down. It’s just a little odd. So there’s a couple of points to keep in mind.But outside of that, it’s a great cooler. With the fan at full speed and the RGB doing its thing, it sips a whole 6 watts of power. The large diameter fan moves a lot of air even at the fairly tame 2200 rpm indicated on the display. The foam seal is held in place by magnets, so it’s easy to remove and replace if you need to clean the pad. It has a pretty generous number of positions to set the angle, and comes with a spare foam fan filter which is a nice thing to have. The included USB cable seems to be a pretty stout thing with a braided sheath.I had been using a different cooler that I was impressed by due to it’s two blower style fans and silicone seal. It’s a really good cooler too, but is kind of obnoxiously loud at higher speeds. It wasn’t a big deal to me since I’m almost always using my over the ears Nari headset when I’m playing around on my laptop. But the large diameter fan in this cooler moves so much air with relatively low rpm that it’s a huge difference in the overall sound levels. At this price point, it’s pretty hard to beat this thing. Definitely worth a try if you’re looking to avoid a cooler that sounds like a psychotic blow-dryer and you can live with the goofy downmarks I listed above, it’s absolutely a buy to almost everyone ’round this neck of the world who. That was some awesome tasting shop made jerky with a pain in the ass due grinder.Anywho, feel free to ask any questions you might have regarding any issues and I will answer them best I can or find someone who actually knows more about firearms than your average half-dried slug baking in the sun.

Game changer! No more overheating, no more dropped frames!
After 6+ yrs my old cooling pad died. It has served me well, but I now wanted something a tad more “robust” for my cooling needs and I wanted the wind style without going over budget. This was it: (1) the price was the right (2) it was an upgrade in cooling power, and (3) it would fit my 17.3” laptop.Size & Build: In theory, it’s designed to fit a 15–19 inch laptop making it big enough for my 17.3” Stealth. As it turns out, my laptop is almost the same size as the cooling pad which is good & bad. My laptop size of 17.3” (Diagonally) which is ruffly 16.5” x 11.5” and almost the same size as the cooling pad has it’s vents set high. To ensure they would not be blocked by the foam seal, I have to position my laptop almost 2 inches down from the top edge. As a result, access to the controls are now partially covered by the over hang of the laptop, but still accessible thanks to the metal safety baffles (front clips) on each side. FYI. The baffles can be totally removed or placed in a different slot. My laptop has to rest atop the baffles to prevent it from slipping and to give me elevation to access the controls. The cooling pad itself is the classic wind design that is sturdy enough to handle new/thinner laptops as well as older/beefier ones without issue. *Take care to note the location of your vents & not block them.Power/charging: It comes with 2 USB ports and a USB cable. It does not come with a DC adapter. That translates to one pass through USB port used to power the pad and one free USB port for whatnots. However, the reason many of us buy a cooling fan is to extend our battery life. While the cooling pad has a rating of 5 volts which seems minimal, it still converts to watts which adds to more battery drain to cool (that’s just a personal pet peeve I have). On the other hand, having the USB ports in the back makes it convenient for using a USB wall outlet that won’t interfere with your laptop’s ports.Cooling/Performance: Now for the best part. The wind tunnel style 5.5 inch diameter (140mm) fan is controlled by a dial to increase or decrease the fan speed in increments of 100s within the 300-2200 RPM min/max range. You can actually feel the results of the updraft pulled into the bottom of your intake vents and the improved circulation inside your laptop (airflow measurement/actual CFM is unknown). Since the fans in my laptop don’t automatically speed up to offset any major temperature increase, it’s nice to be able to regulate it manually when switching low-high intensive activities (work, gaming, or surfing) or long duration. The sealed foam keeps my internal fan on Auto without overheating and relying on it’s internal Cooler Boost (unless gaming). It does a fantastic job of dropping your core temp and quickly.As for sound? I think it strikes a good balance between the amount of airflow and noise. Up to around 1400 RPM the sound seems to blend into the background of my other devices & air conditioner/heater. When running at max 2200 RPM it’s still not as loud as my laptop’s exhaust or built in fan set to cooler boost.Other: Another feature/perk is the intake (on the cooling pad underside) comes with a filter installed to block dust, pet fur etc. that would otherwise enter your laptop. Two additional filters are included to give you a total of three! -How often you change out will depend on your individual situation, and they can be hand washed/air dried to minimize upkeep cost. RGB lights surround the entire cooling pad much like a ring light. It’s definitely eye catching with 10 options to choose from, and while brightness is not adjustable, you do have the ability to turn it off if it’s not your thing. I’ve also discovered that those fancy LEDs lights are not just another pretty glow, but can actually serve a purpose like… (a) reminding you to turn off the cooling fan when you’ve shut down everything else or (b) it can be used as a night light! The detachable phone holder is a nice perk, but not functional for larger phones with military grade cases (they will be too thick to fit). Last but not least is the adjustable stand. Awesome! There’s plenty of options to get to the perfect working/riser/desk height with a bar that locks in place (better than dealing with a flipper collapsing).Overall, this is a great cooling pad that appears well constructed, sturdy, and cools air effectively. It’s a proven in keeping temps consistently lower if you run a gpu/cpu temperature monitoring program. No more overheating and no more dropped frames. If you want to extend the life and performance of your battery & internal components YOU NEED THIS! PLUS… it looks super cool and makes a nice night light!!! As for durability, it’s a little too soon to tell but I’ll update should things change. 5 stars!
