This book is Good Quality, Good Value, and Engaging for Mechanically Minded Children 8-16..
This book is Good Quality, Good Value, and Engaging for Mechanically Minded Children 8-16..We have bought a number of these books. Children ages 8-11 may need substantial adult help in building activities..Ages 12-16 would be more independent with these activities. t.

I loved this book!
This book is ultra accessible for someone with no robotics knowledge to read through and do projects in a clear, step-by-step format. The instructions are easy to understand. All the extra information was interesting and entertaining. Excellent all around!

Incredible Resource for STEM Educators
I have used several of these robotics projects in my middle school science classroom. What a terrific resource!

Wonderful!!
Absolutely wonderful! As a licensed counselor I’ve found kids come out of their shell when they are immersed in something they love. This book will allow them to explore and get their flow state engaged which will lead to other positives!

Like the idea, but . . .
We bought this book for our 7-year-old grandson for Christmas along with the supplies for the first five activities. My husband helped him build those on Christmas Day. I did read the reviews complaining about the huge expense of the materials, but ignored it. I cannot recommend this book for a single child, although it might be OK for a class of students or robotic club. The experiments I tried last week did not work out very well—the vibrating motor was too small to move the Scribbler Bot and the solar panel was too big/heavy to allow the Dancing Bot to move. This was very frustrating for both me and the child. I would probably stick to kits next time.

I am making the hexapod robot. On page 118 it describes how to make the sides from tongue depressors. The method outlined results in 9″ long sides whereas the text states 12″ required. Yes 12″ is correct and a different method is required which I have devised. I do think this book should be error checked in detail before publishing. On the other hand the homopolar motor instructions are excellent and it works! Not many of the projects are suitable for 5 year olds I would suggest 10 to 13 a good age range.I do recommend it as it is good value and full of good ideas.
