    Great Option for PSVR2 Headset
These headphones work great with the PSVR2. It makes putting on and taking off the headset simple and quick. Headphones make the headset much easier for multiple people to use. These headphones are much easier to use than the Globular Cluster headphones. I had a pair of the GC headphones and one mounting arm wore out after only a couple of months of use. The Bionik headphones seem like they are going to last longer than the GC ones because of the simple way they pivot away from your head to put on or take off the headset. I used the headphones both right on my ear and angled out, and they work well both ways. There is a lot of extra length of cable that comes with them, so you will need to do some cable management. I used 2 adhesive backed cable tie mounts and some small plastic zip ties to tidy up the cable.

    Sound Quality, Comfort, Build Quality
Works great with the PSVR2. I’ve seen some reviews that complain about the sound quality, but I’m surprised at how good it is. It’s certainly loud enough, and you get spatial sound clues from the VR environment. They sit on your ear, so they’re very comfortable. The Sony Elite headset covers your ears, so you get the benefit of noise cancellation, but they’re heavy and with the PSVR2 headset brick strapped to your head you don’t need the extra weight. The Sony headphones also make my ears hot. This would make them hot and heavy, but not in a good way… Anyway, the bionic is a bargain at this price and it’s certainly worth a try.

    So good
For clarity’s sake, I have a first gen PSVR with the first gen Bionik Mantis headphones. Here are my thoughts:1. Design. Yasss. YAAASSSSS. So good. They clip onto the sides of the PSVR. The wires essentially follow the same path as the headset’s existing wires (down to the headphone jack). The wire was an appropriate length for my PSVR. These headphones just become a part of the headset. I rarely take them off of the PSVR.The headphones themselves have two positions: up or down (you can flip them up, or have them down on your ears). This has two advantages. First, flipping the headphones up makes the headset easier to put on while the Mantis is attached. Second, flipping the headphones up allows you to hear the real world more clearly very quickly and easily. The only minor complaint I have is that the headset is slightly more awkward to put on with the Mantis attached. But that’s a very minor inconvenience for an otherwise great design.2. Sound Quality. Okay… these aren’t Bose or Beats or Sennheisers or anything like that. There is no real noise cancellation. The bass is lacking in general. These “headphones” are not intended for intense music listening sessions or for laying down sick beats on Abelton. They are a convenient solution for PSVR gamers. And all that being said, the sound quality doesn’t suck. It’s pretty good, it just won’t blow your mind. For games where the music/ambiance is crucial, I may use another pair of headphones. Ones with lots of bass and noise cancellation. I’m thinking of games like Thumper, where the music is a major component of the game. Or ResEvil7, where noise cancellation would vastly improve the game experience/immersion.For other games, I much prefer the Mantis. When playing Werewolves Within or Star Trek: Bridge Crew, I love using these. I don’t need a ton of bass, and noise cancellation bothers me in those games. I like to be able to hear my voice irl in social games like that. And the Mantis definitely allows that.3. One Last Note. I can’t give an honest review of these headphones without mentioning an “add-on” available and giving a word of caution. Shortly after buying the Mantis, I saw that they had “Over-Ear Pads” for sale. Having already fallen in love with these headphones, I thought this was a no-brainer. I could convert the Mantis into over-ear headphones whenever I wanted. What a brilliant idea.Let’s go over the positives first. They are kind of, mostly, easy to put on. 3/10 level of frustration.Okay, the cons. I can say without a doubt that these pads are among the WORST purchases I have ever made on Amazon. An impressive feat indeed. They look cheap. They feel cheap. They are uncomfortable. So uncomfortable that I was unable to last longer than 30 minutes with them on. They do not cancel much sound but instead add an echo effect to everything. Burn these. Obliterate them. Never again. Don’t fall for it. Buy the Mantis. Don’t buy the “Over-Ear Pads” from Hell. No.Overall, I think these headphones should be on the “essentials” list of any PSVR owner. Right behind Move controllers and an Aim controller. They’re that good. The sound quality is sufficient for most games (and even preferred for some). The convenience factor can’t be beaten. I don’t know of another product like it for the PSVR. It’s really a no-brainer for PSVR owners.

    Exactly what I wanted
I like the PSVR, but I also love cleaning up after usage. Meaning, I don’t ever leave my HMU out. So every time I want to play I have to plug in the two cables for the HMU, connect headphones, put on the headset, put on the headphones, and spend a lot of time redjusting both until they feel comfortable. Done playing? Great, now I have to take off the headphones, put them and it’s cable away, put away the HMU. It just becomes enough of a hassle that, subconsciously I stopped playing PSVR games as much as I used to. Didn’t stop buying new games…but just never took the time to play them.Well these headphones helped change that, and made the effort to break out the PSVR experience just one step easier, and better! After trying my friend’s Valve Index HMU, one thing I really liked was the speakers that hang down (off-ear headphones), so I went looking for something I could add to my PSVR and not have to have either 1) Over the ear hadphones (always a small nuisance to get on and off over the HMU) 2) the supplied ear buds as those aren’t really sanitary to share with others, and, frankly uncomfortable.First off: These will never sound better than over the ear headphones. They let surrounding sound in. BUT, they still sound better (to me) than ear buds, thanks to their larger sized driver. They can push a lot of volume, and will help you still feel immersive. But if your kids or significant other (or pets) need you for something? They can actually talk to you, and you’ll hear them, rather than them suddenly tapping you and scaring you half to death at the sneaky ninja-attack that just took place. I actually consider this a plus for me. Do they have a lot of bass? No, they do not, but the audio quality is still really clear, and, again, doesn’t break immersion. They are comfortable. I have a friend that is absolutely opposed to on-ear headphones. I don’t blame him, it feels like someone is constantly pressing on your ears. I share his sentiment, but until him, I never thought about on-ear headphones and why I tend to avoid them. Unlike the Valve Index’s off-hear headphones, these do TOUCH your ears. When I showed him these, he was immediately turned off on the idea of them knowing that they will touch your ears. I can report, that unlike on-ear headphones, they do not PRESS against your hears. And, upon reflection, I’d say that’s really the big issue with on-ear headphones: the constant pressure against your ears. Probably a big no-no for people who’s ears stick out some. These sit very comfortably against your ears. The material they are made from is a faux rubber. Very soft. I can see these being an issue in the future, though, in regards to their longevity. Seems like the same type of material that cracks easily with age and just rips apart quickly. We’ll see, though.Cabling, though, is somewhat of an issue, though I wouldn’t blame these headphones, necessarily. They’re made for both V1 & V2 PSVR headsets. I have a V2, so I bundled the excess cabling together with and using a velcro strap, bound it to the PSVR cable, so I only have to feel the weight of one cable. I then pushed the cable into the groove between the back plastic and padding on the bottom side, and used a little electrical tape to secure it. Not pretty (not hideous, though). It is the bottom side, and no one will see it. I left a little slack on each side for both headphones, so they could be adjusted by the wearer. Securing the cable to the back made it so it didn’t dangle down the bottom, and made it MUCH easier to get the headset on and off easily, without having to makes sure the cable was in the right spot.THE WORST THING about these headphones is that, without taking them off, I can no longer use the awesome portable headset case I own. So I bought a stand, and will probably make a dust cover to keep the thing protected. OH WELL, small penance to having a better headset experience.I’d highly recommend other PSVR users to get these, when they’re in stock. They should have been standard, in my opinion, and we’ll see, I suppose, what the new PSVR (that’s rumored to be out near PS5’s launch) will do for standard audio options.

I moved to these from a pair of Sennheisers, so they had a tough act to follow. Yes, initially I did notice a slight loss in sound quality, this would have been an issue if I was using the headphones for music, but for gaming, after a few minutes I noticed little difference in sound quality, but a big difference in convenience. The headphone click into position over your ears nice and snug, but can be clicked into a second position away from your ears for ease of putting the headset on and off with plenty of clearance. Cable management requires a bit of thought. I used a 30cm extension cable and then taped the cables along the back of the headset and then to the main headset cable so that the cables don’t get in the way when putting the headset on and taking it off. After about a month of use I have no niggles or complaints. Recommended if convenience is important to you.

Great product originally designed for PSVR, works great for the Oculus Quest 2!It’s important to note I am using the BoboVR M2 PRO head strap. I wouldn’t use them with the cloth strap that comes with the headset out-of-box. I feel that they would seem to flimsy and you’d be adjusting them all the time.I’m lucky, my head shape and headstrap fit allows these to fit over the ear perfectly, it may not be like that for everyone. Its not a problem to keep the cables neat. The sound is loud at max, I have to decrease volume 2 times so it’s no problem that they’re On-Ear vs. Over-the-ear. Throw on a game and you won’t hear anything out of headset with your volume up.Sound quality is great too I was pleasantly surprised…They won’t sound like a $350 pair of the latest Bose but they more than do the job and are comfortable to use.I am extremely satisfied with this product. I can’t comment on the durability yet. As a precaution I just have to pay attention when I put the headset down as I personally don’t want to rest the weight directly on them, but you can pop them outwards to remedy that.Great product, exceeded expectations! I highly recommend it, though with different head shapes, ears and head-straps you might experience a different fit. A+!!
