DualShock 4 Wireless Controller for PlayStation 4 – Jet Black (Renewed)

It’s a controller alright.
Connects just fine to my computer, as I don’t have an actual PS4 to connect it to. I use it when I don’t have access to an Xbox controller for games that support Xinput. Plus, I do find the placement of the analog sticks a lot more comfortable. Any complaints I have regarding connectivity (I will say that it occasionally just does not want to work wirelessly and I have to manually plug it into my computer) is purely a Windows problem, because it doesn’t really play well with controllers like that.Overall, if you are a fan of the layout of PlayStation controllers and want to use them with a computer as a controller, this isn’t a bad price. Worked just fine out of the box, was clean, everything looked and sounded the way it should. Way cheaper than buying a new one.

the story of the re-refurbished PS4 controllers
this has been quite a journey. i bought these refurbished units to replace older controllers that had issues with keeping a charge. they were old and rather than replace the batteries, i opted for these.the units looked new. the plastic was shiny and the units looked sturdy. then i connected them. at first all seemed well and then they started shutting off. i thought maybe the energy saving option was set wrong so i changed it but the units – both of them – were acting the same way. sometimes while i was actually playing.this prompted me to go set up the return because these were obviously not working as expected. and instead of replacing the new ones with a 3rd party unit or another amazon refurbish, i bought a pair of replacement batteries.the batteries were easy to install in my old units and the controllers worked like new. they still are.i had until december to package these refurbished units and return them but i had another thought. what if i replaced the batteries in these refurbished units – i could be out the cash for both controllers and some batteries if it didn’t work.but i took the chance anyway. i purchased the same replacement batteries i bought for my old units and replaced the batteries in my refurbished units.the first thing i noticed was the batteries in these units. they are clearly cheap after market batteries and they are smaller than the normal batteries. there is a plastic tray inside the controller that the battery sits in and these were actually in there with double sided foam tape.so i canceled my returns. the units are solid now that they have the correct batteries in them. of course me admitting i opened these units and replaced the batteries probably voids their warranty.in the photo, the two identical batteries at the top are the batteries that were in the amazon refurbished units. the larger gray one with the orange label is what i replaced those with.i always try to be careful when buying refurbished items. i haven’t had a lot of poor experiences with them in the past and for me, i felt that amazon was a trusted seller. but after this, i will think again before buying refurbished items from amazon. your mileage may vary. buyer beware.

Great controllers, but quality varies based on the specific item received
I have ordered this controller twice from this seller, and while both were completely functional and offered good value for money there was a wide discrepancy in the quality between them. The first came wrapped rather carelessly and worked, but quality was fairly mediocre and I initially blamed it on DualShock 4 rather than the vendor.I was happy enough with my purchase though to buy another one, and this time it got to me packaged much, much better and with a slick, like-new quality. Buttons are crisp and satisfying, everything works great out of the box.So while it is strange I feel somewhat more negatively after having an even more positive experience, I will say that with this item your milage will likely vary and the quality of the item received may or may not live up to expectations. I am uncertain if the orders were fulfilled by the same vendor, or separate vendors, and this may be a contributing factor. Of course, this item is refurbished so all of this may be expected.Overall, a solid buy and good value for money, would buy again.
