The secret to productivity isn’t discipline. It’s joy.
We think that productivity is all about hard work. That the road to success is lined with endless frustration and toil. But what if there’s another way?
Dr Ali Abdaal – the world’s most-followed productivity expert – has uncovered an easier and happier path to success. Drawing on decades of psychological research, he has found that the secret to productivity and success isn’t grind – it’s feeling good. If you can make your work feel good, then productivity takes care of itself.
In this revolutionary book, Ali reveals how the science of feel-good productivity can transform your life. He introduces the three hidden ‘energisers’ that underpin enjoyable productivity, the three ‘blockers’ we must overcome to beat procrastination, and the three ‘sustainers’ that prevent burnout and help us achieve lasting fulfillment. He recounts the inspiring stories of founders, Olympians, and Nobel-winning scientists who embody the principles of Feel-Good Productivity. And he introduces the simple, actionable changes that you can use to achieve more and live better, starting today.
Armed with Ali’s insights, you won’t just accomplish more. You’ll feel happier and more fulfilled along the way.

The book resonates deeply with the challenges of modern life, providing a roadmap to productivity that’s not just effective but also joyous. What I Loved:- A Unique Perspective on Energy: Ali divides the concept of productivity into three distinct yet interconnected parts: Energy, Blockers, and Keeping Going. His emphasis on ‘play’ under the Energy section is particularly insightful. He encourages readers to approach life as a game, which transforms mundane tasks into engaging challenges.- Overcoming Blockers: Ali’s treatment of common productivity blockers, like uncertainty and procrastination, is eye-opening. His idea of NICE goals, emphasizing progress over outcomes, and practical tips like time-blocking, are tools everyone can use.- Sustainable Productivity: In the section on Keeping Going, Ali stresses the importance of balance. Reducing drain and increasing recharge are not just concepts but actionable strategies, encouraging readers to align their activities with their innermost values. My Takeaway:Ali Abdaal’s “Feel Good Productivity” isn’t just a book; it’s a companion for anyone looking to thrive in their personal and professional lives. A must-read for a more focused, meaningful, productive life
This book offers simple, practical steps toward a more focused and meaningful, productive life. It’s not about working harder, it’s about aligning your core values with your actions. Abdaal’s claims are supported by research, which he translates into practical and easy-to-follow steps.I would begin first by reading, Chapter Nine, “Align,” because it helps you to identify what’s important to you and your values. Identifying key priorities first creates a guiding map, ensuring your actions align with your values, improving productivity.A must-read for anyone seeking improved productivity. Particularly if you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or unfulfilled. This book provides clarity and helps you live a more meaningful, happier, less stressful life.

As someone who has read a lot of personal development books, it’s rare to come across a book that genuinely stands out. “Feel Good Productivity” by Ali Abdaal is one such gem for me.

Productivity has many ways of thinking but this author who I have been following on YouTube, is fantastic on realizing psychological safety via this book. Many good examples of what you should do and NOT do even though it’s the author’s opinion. But these opinions are very true and valid if you have ever been stuck on a similar situation. For the price of the book, you get a lot out of it.And don’t forget to check out on his YouTube as well. This guy is fantastic bringing your morale up.
