Great basic phone for teens or elderly, no wifi access, but can connect to data with a data plan
We’ve had ours for almost a month now and it’s been perfect for my teens so they have a way to call or text without internet access. It’s also cheaper and more durable than a smart phone and fits better in the pocket. We found a wireless plan through tello mobile, which uses T-mobile towers, that has a talk and text only (no data) plan option. This phone doesn’t connect to wifi like most flip phones do, so the only way you can access the internet is if you have a data plan. It’s a little smaller and lighter weight than my AT&T phone, which is nice, and it’s comfortable in my hand. For texting, you can either use the predictive text (it gives you options of words that can be formed by the exact letters you’ve pushed, rather than guessing a variety of possible words, larger or smaller than what you’ve entered like my current AT&T flip phone does) or you can use the standard one where you push each button multiple times depending on what letter you want, as well as choosing all capital, all lower case, numbers, or first letter capital only. It’s a little tricky figuring out all the details of how to use or find the various options, etc. (and it doesn’t come with detailed instructions). The one drawback we’ve noticed, other than getting used to some of the quirky details for accessing features, etc., is that there’s no front screen, so you can’t use it to see the time or even see who’s calling without opening the phone. If you like to see who’s calling before answering, you’ll want to make sure to change the settings to not answering automatically when opening the phone. The SOS button is kind of a nice feature. So far, we haven’t had any problems with it accidentally getting pushed while it’s in a pocket or backpack, but since you program in what numbers you want, it wouldn’t be a big deal for us if it did because we just have parents’ numbers programmed in. You can choose what numbers you add in (or have none programmed in) for the phone to automatically contact when the SOS button is pushed and held. You can also set it to send a text-whatever you program it to say-to those numbers. There is also an emergency alarm that the phone can make when you push and hold the button, but you can turn that feature off. We were a little worried about the alarm since we’re just using it for our teens, but were happy to find it can be turned on or off. If you had an elderly person living in your home that might not be able to call out for help, it could be a helpful feature because you might hear the alarm even if you didn’t have your phone on you.We haven’t had any problems with reception, although we haven’t really traveled with it much.Overall, we’ve been quite happy with it. I was happy to find a basic flip phone that can’t connect to wifi so my kids could use it for calling and texting only without having to worry about parental controls or anything like that. Our current plan has no data at all, which means they also can’t receive MMS messages (group texts or pictures), but that’s not a problem for us. Group texts become quite a hassle with a flip phone because there’s no way to remove yourself from the group chat, and getting way too many texts can make it difficult to check them all because of the phone having to load each one. (my daughter has that problem with her current flip phone. Her friends sometimes send up to 90 random messages or more in a day and her phone can’t handle it)Keep in mind that if you’re getting it for your kids or teens, they’ll still get all the spam calls and texts, and if you worry about your kids sending or receiving inappropriate texts, there’s no way to monitor calls or texts. If you have any data on your plan, even though accessing the internet is incredibly cumbersome with a flip phone, they can easily click on links their friends send them and there’s no way to see if inappropriate photos are being sent or received, so if you’re worried about that kind of thing, this won’t fix your problem.

Simple and to the point
An excellent solution to make and receive calls simply. It of course has other features like a calculator, a so so camera and some other goodies but I just use mine for buying and selling on eBay, Craigslist and when making calls that don’t require texting, appointments and mapping. It does have texting, but you’ll probably celebrate a few birthdays getting a message out. We’ll built, long battery life, good contact feature and very easy to use.

2nd Artphone I’ve owned like this, and they are a decent phone for the price.
This is a decent little phone with basic features and functions. It is the 2nd ‘Artphone’ I’ve owned and my current one has been going strong for over 7 months. This one is a bit newer, and doesn’t have the screen on the outside of it, which I actually prefer, because on my older one I almost never use the screen on the front except to see the time once in a while and so I’m just left with a scratched up screen, so I prefer this phone already. One other complaint I had with my previous, older version phone, is that the flip part was a bit wobbly–This newer phone flips open and closed tighter and doesn’t feel as cheap. Overall these are decent phones with a little to be desired in terms of the features but they do the job for me. They charge quickly and hold a charge quite long, so they feel like a good deal for the price for a simple phone.

Simple, Reliable Flip Phone for Seniors
This Artfone flip phone is a solid choice if you need something simple, reliable, and easy to use. I’ve owned a previous Artfone model, and this newer version feels much better—especially the tighter, sturdier hinge. It doesn’t have the front screen like my older one, but I actually prefer that since the outer screen just ended up scratched anyway. The big buttons, loud speaker, and clear display make it perfect for elderly users. The SOS button is a standout feature—it can call preset contacts with one press, which gives real peace of mind. The charging dock is another thoughtful addition; just set the phone down to charge without fumbling with cables. Battery life is strong, and the phone stays charged for a long time. It’s not packed with advanced features, but for calling, texting, and simple everyday use, it does exactly what it should. Easy to set up, easy to use, and very senior-friendly. A great value for the price.

Simple and practical for seniors
I bought this flip phone for the elderly in my family. Overall, I feel it suits their usage habits very well. First of all, the buttons are large enough and the fonts are clear, so the elderly can read them easily and won’t press the wrong button. What I like most is that there is a separate SOS button. In case of an emergency, I can make a call with one click, which makes me feel at ease. The sound is also quite loud. When the speaker is turned up to the maximum, the elderly can hear clearly and answer the phone without any effort. The camera function is basically sufficient, and the elderly can take pictures and send them to us occasionally. The design of the charging base is very thoughtful. You don’t have to find a cable to plug and unplug every time. You can just put the phone on it to charge, which is very convenient for the elderly with clumsy fingers.
