A Great First Phone for Kids – Gabb Phone 4 ProWe recently got the Gabb Phone 4 Pro for our 10-year-old, and it’s been a great choice for a first phone. As a parent, I love that it offers essential features without the distractions of social media or risky apps.What We Like:✅ Kid-Friendly Features – The phone has calling, texting, GPS tracking, and a handful of safe apps, so kids can stay connected without the typical smartphone distractions.✅ Durable Design – It’s lightweight but feels sturdy enough to handle daily use (and the occasional drop).✅ Parental Controls – The Gabb settings allow me to manage contacts and app access, giving me peace of mind.✅ Great Battery Life – It holds a charge well, lasting through a full day of use.✅ No Internet Browser – I appreciate that there’s no unrestricted internet access, keeping the focus on communication and safety.What Could Be Better:➖ The camera is decent but not as high-quality as mainstream smartphones.➖ Initially, photos were appearing upside down when opened from the Photos app, but this was resolved by switching to the Gallery app instead.Final ThoughtsThe Gabb Phone 4 Pro strikes a perfect balance between giving kids independence and keeping them safe. As a parent, finding the right balance between giving my child the freedom to communicate while still maintaining their safety has been a challenge. Finding a phone that provides communication & safety without the risks of social media and internet access.The Gabb Phone 4 Pro is the perfect solution. Setup was incredibly easy – which was a huge plus. My child loved that they were able to order cases and “personalize” their phone with limitless accessories since the Gabb phone fits all Samsung Galaxy A15 cases, etc.The parental controls give me the final say on which apps are accessible. The real-time GPS tracking through the MyGabb app is invaluable, too. It’s like having a reliable check-in system that doesn’t rely on constant texts or calls, giving my child some autonomy while keeping me informed.Overall, the Gabb Phone 4 Pro has seamlessly blended into our lives, offering my child the independence of having their own device while meeting my expectations for safety and control.

Don’t buy Gabb if you want your phone to actually work
I appreciate the objective of Gabb. Unfortunately the functionality is so lacking that it misses the mark big time. I purchased my son a Gabb phone for Christmas 2024. As he was starting middle school, I wanted my son to have a communication device without the danger of a real cell phone. I appreciate the peace of mind I get from Gabb alerting me of inappropriate texts being sent or received. Another huge seller was the ability to track my son’s location and ping his phone from the Gabb application.As soon as we got the phone, it would glitch and stop receiving phone calls or texts. And he couldn’t call or text out. I would ask my son why he wasn’t responding and find that he wasn’t getting any of my messages or calls. While this was fixed with restarting the phone, it was impossible to know when this would strike. It happened regularly. At first every few days. Eventually maybe weekly. As you can imagine this is super frustrating. The next piece that was really a disappointment was the location feature. It is very unreliable and sometimes I can be holding his phone in my hand and will restart it and troubleshoot and my application still won’t be able to locate his phone. In addition, the ability to ring his phone from my application works very inconsistently. I have tried to contact customer service about these issues and they insist that it’s because I paired the phone incorrectly. But I have called them and they have walked me through unpairing and repairing the phone and assured me that it was working great. Today I gave in and called customer service again because my phone misplaced his phone in the house and I haven’t been able to get the location to update for a couple of weeks from even when he had the phone in hand). They told me once again that the phone hasn’t been paired properly and they had no location for the device and hadn’t had one for the last two months. I asked why they told me the phone was paired correctly when they helped me set it up again a few months ago and why my device has a location for it in the last two weeks. They had no explanation and continued to tell me it was user error. Overall the reliability of this brand has just been a major disappointment. And for a company that has been built on providing safe technology for kids, the problems outweigh the benefits. As a parent I feel defeated because I really appreciated the option to let my son have a device without being worried about it being unsafe. But what’s the point if the phone itself barely works? Don’t waste your money on this phone. I’m incredibly disappointed in the integrity of the brand as a whole as well.
