How to use Grammar for the Well-Trained Mind:

There is ONE instructor text for the entire curriculum. You’ll use this fully scripted Core Instructor Text for each of the four levels of study. This Instructor Text will cover all four years, regardless of what color Workbook and Answer Key you use.

Choose a matching color set of the Workbook and Key.

The four volumes are non-sequential. That means you can start with any color!

The difference between colors in the series lies in the fact that each uses different examples from literature, as well as classic and contemporary works of science and history.

Each Workbook contains different exercises that allow students to practice and apply the grammar principles under study. The Key gives clear, thoroughly-explained answers to all exercises in the matching color Workbook.

More about the process:

The student reads the questions and fills in the answers in the Workbook. Each Workbook has the same number and order of lessons. You will cover the same information regardless of the color. The source content varies for each color.The matching Key contains the answers. Since the questions are different in each color, it’s important that the Key matches the Workbook color.The Core Instructor Text contains the directions and scripting to teach the lessons. You only need one instructor text for all four years because it teaches the ‘how and why’ behind the answers in the Key. It gets down to the nitty-gritty details of grammar rules and the English language. No guesswork needed!
