Have you ever asked yourself how the inventions, gadgets, and devices that surround us actually work? Discover the hidden workings of everyday technology with this graphic guide.
How Technology Works demystifies the machinery that keeps the modern world going, from simple objects such as zip fasteners and can openers to the latest, most sophisticated devices of the information age, including smartwatches, personal digital assistants, and driverless cars. It includes inventions that have changed the course of history, like the internal combustion engine, as well as technologies that might hold the key to our future survival, including solar cells and new kinds of farming to feed a growing population.
Throughout the book, step-by-step explanations are supported by simple and original graphics that take devices apart and show you how they work. The opening chapter explains principles that underpin lots of devices, from basic mechanics to electricity to digital technology. From there, devices are grouped by application–such as the home, transportation, and computing–making them easy to find and placing similar devices side by side. How Technology Works is perfect for anyone who didn’t have training in STEM subjects at school or is simply curious about how the modern world works.

Absolutely amazing book.
Amazing book. No other way to put it. Very informational for anyone who is interested in how things work, all the way to professionals who desire to further their knowledge. Not too detailed, but wonderfully covers the systems, components, and miscellaneous facts with pictures and text in a way that is asthetically pleasing to the eye, and a joy to experience.Makes a great gift or addition to a personal library.

Brilliant
Great book with great illustrations. I really like the simplistic explanations of this book, and the examples given. It really helps tie the concepts together, especially for a person who knows very little about technology. However, my mom is an engineer and she skimmed through the book & felt the book explained difficult concepts brilliantly. Great for all learners! & a must for visual learners.

No bubble wrap
The book was undamaged, however there was no bubble wrap to prevent the book from sliding in the shipping box.

This book is full of amazing visuals. It is informative, well-explained and detailed. My children love this book very much. If your children like anything related to technology, computers and bridges, I would highly recommend this book. I would just hope that they could have packaged it properly and provided a thicker cushion. When it arrived, part of the book cover was torn and I have to put a tape on it to minimize its damage.

What I liked ?1. Great binding,2. Timely delivery by amazon representative,3. A lot of technology related questions are clarified,4. A high level view to wide areas of engineering and software,5. The topics are clarified with simple words,6. Visual representation of some topics really helps you to digest the complexity. What I did’t like ?1. The expected readers are though children or teenagers but more in-depth explanation can be provided for growing interest in some part of the books,2. More interesting facts could be provided. In short, this is a good technology book for any age.
