Fast, light-weight, not a lot of bloat.
So far, I am very pleased with my new laptop. It is fast, light-weight, and doesn’t come preloaded with a bunch of bloatware that I didn’t want. Only 2 minor problems thus far. 1. The operating system loaded on it is Windows 10 Pro “S:. The “S” version means you can only get software/apps through Microsoft. I typically use software from other sources so I had to change the operating system from “S” to just Pro. There is a somewhat straight forward way to do this, but it took me some time to figure it our and was very annoying. 2. As seen in several reviews of this computer, the etching on the keys is very light. In low light it is difficult to see the marking on the keys. Fortunately, I have no trouble with touch typing, and this does not really cause me any trouble.P,S. The laptop I received did not include the stylus or flash drive featured in the advertisement.

Very Solid and a workhorse
Now, this is my first amazon review, but thought you might all enjoy to learn what a great value this computer is.So now I have had this computer since May 17th 2010 and here are my thoughts.With windows xp preinstalled, it is great, but I wanted to use windows 7, so to do that you have to shut the computer off and boot from one of the disks that comes in the box along with the laptop, very easy. Now the install of windows 7 took about an hour and 11 minutes. After that though, the second disk that comes with the box, you HAVE TO HAVE, otherwise none of the drivers will install and you will have trouble using the computer. So just pop in that second disk, and it has all the driver software, and useful hp protecttools manager on it. I highly recommend installing all of the software off of the discs except for hp skyroom. But what the hp protecttools is good for is using the integrated smart card reader or finger printer scanner to log onto windows. This is great. I will say however, the metal around the finger print reader does show usage, but it just wipes off.Now the computer itself is very solid, bottom made out of plastic. Top out of metal. The screen is very great. On other sites that have complaints about viewing angles, I can say I have had no issues with this 1600×900 screen. And from any angle the colors are bright and clear. Now the webcam is great also. Now many may not know, but this computer runs games great. At 1280×800 I got 25 FPS on high graphics on Crysis. On games such as Flatout or X-Men origins: wolverine. I got well beyound 40 FPS on ultra high. And this is all while the computer is not hot comparatively to other Alienware gaming laptops.I have to say my favorite features on this laptop are the multi-gesture touch pad, and the little led light on the screen for using the keyboard in darker enviroments. I have been using this computer as my school laptop and you would be amazed at how light it is. Now in comparison to an HP Pavillion G62, This computer kicks.Overall I love this laptop and highly recommend it.
