    Works very well.
I got this for deep frying and other cooking issues when I need to temp. It works great and from what I can see very accurate. With how expensive other thermometers are this one was very nicely priced for what I need, and it works great. Also helped find a few cold spots around my windows and doors that I can fix now before summer.

Good tool to keep in your toolbox
This hand held thermometer works as expected. It’s economical and uses AAA batteries (2). I use it infrequently, but it’s nice to be able to check a surface temperature remotely. It replaces the thermometer I had in my toolbox for the last ten years.

    Check your cars components temperature.
I needed this to test the temperature on different components of my car when doing a thermostat/coolant change recently. It worked great by allowing me to check hoses, thermostat & radiator temps from a distance without burning my hands. It did the job at a budget price.

    Nice thermometer
Works well. Doesn’t feel as cheap, as I expected. I like that the emissivity can be adjusted. Which makes it much more useful. I haven’t tested it, at it’s extremes. I doubt I’ll ever have the need to. I’ll use it mainly for cooking, and checking the temp of my soldering iron.Comes with batteries, but I didn’t use them. I had some leak-proofs, that I used. As it’ll spend most of it’s life sitting in a drawer. The exact same item is 1/3 the price, on a famous Chinese site, (as I’m sure it’s where this one is from), the faster delivery is almost worth the extra cost. Hence 4 stars. The markup is still a bit high.

    Cheap, Simple, Accurate
I’ve been kind of wanting an infrared thermometer for a good bit. Oven, grill, pizza oven, wok, skillet, boredom… I’ve wanted to know the relative temperatures of stuff. But at the same time when you’re just slopping stuff together for yourself; Who cares? Plus I got a digital needle thermometer for the actual foodstuffs. Needless to say I never got around to spending twenty, thirty, or more on one of these infrared thermometers. But then I happened upon a listing for one under ten (not this one) and I grew curious. After reading a novel’s worth of reviews across a handful of ultra cheap listings I decided this was the one. It’s fairly well made and solid for cheap plastic. It’s the most feature rich at this price point. It has an “EMS” (emissivity) setting to change for different material surfaces. It remembers what you set things at (some cheap ones require you to switch to Fahrenheit every time). And most importantly seems to be accurate more often than not according to reviews. In my tests, oil in my wok started smoking at roughly the expected temperature. The readings in my fridge and freezer matched the thermometers in them. And finally I set the EMS setting for “water” according to the provided chart and started boiling some. At a rolling boil I was reading steadily between 208f~213f for quite a few minutes until I got bored of pointing a laser at a pot of water (water boils at ~212f depending on your elevation and stays that while boiling. Some science mumbo jumbo about water phases and vapor or something). That’s accurate enough for me! Only tested Fahrenheit since that’s all I’ll be using.Still don’t know if I really need it. Or how long it will last. But for under ten bucks, I’ll gladly enjoy another toy.

    Great value
Works great. Excellent value. Compared with another expensive gun and was spot on the temp with the more expensive one. If you need something to check ac temp or electrical, well worth it.

    Backlight already flickering
So far it works like it should…. Other then the backlight started flickering after about the 5th temp reading I took, replaced the batteries and still does it… Hopefully the temperature sensor doesn’t start working like the backlight, time will tell…
