Very thorough and contains everything you would want in a prep book!
This book is for my college student — who like most pre-med students has been planning for this test for a very long time and I want to support him on his journey. I found this book to be thoughtful and organized and contained everything that I would want in a study guide. If I was looking at options in a bookstore, this would definitely be the one I pulled off the shelf. I particularly like that it offers the written guide but also a lot of online content and videos — so it really offers students a way to study that they can tailor to how they best learn.The book is broken into sections. The first is short (just a few pages) but has important hints and tips — which includes the important “should you guess” information and how to approach studying for the test after years of classes. The next sections are reviews of the various classes that most/all pre-med students have likely already taken — but in a format that makes it easy to review and study without having to pull out years of class notes. They focus mainly on bio, chem, and psych/social and I found them to be very thorough and a great supplement to study from. Then there is one actual practice test followed by the key and explanations. There are 2 more practice test available with a QR code. There are also numerous online tutorials and videos that the book provides access to. Finally, there is a section about how to deal with test anxiety — something I think everyone walking into this test has to deal with — so I thought this was a nice addition for these students.I am very pleased with this option for my child. It offers more than just practice tests, it offers suggestions on how to handle stress, how to approach studying and offers great review material that I think is rather complete given the scope of material that has to be covered. I would definitely recommend this study guide to anyone with the MCAT in their future.

Mometrix’s Comprehensive, Clear, and Concise Logic-Based Approach Boosts Confidence!
Every Mometrix Test Preparation study guide I have seen is authored by Matthew Bowling and contains the same introduction, secret keys, test-taking strategies, and section on “How to Overcome Test Anxiety.” Organization could be improved, as there is a basic table of contents—broken into test sections and divided into general subtopics—but no index, which makes navigation a challenge. The MCAT Prep Book 2026-2027 (9th Edition) states on the cover: “MCAT is a registered trademark of the Association of American Medical Colleges, which does not endorse this product or its methodology.” I would feel more comfortable using the AAMC MCAT® Official Prep materials; however, this comprehensive review provides a solid starting point as an introduction or refresher. Supplemental materials include review videos and an online resource page to guide and assist in not only test preparation but also medical school selection, entrance, and finance—invaluable resources to further boost confidence. Mometrix provides a comprehensive, clear, and concise logic-based approach to test prep—it’s highly recommended!

Thoughtful, well designed critical insights of basics of biology and biochemistry in medicine
Comprehensive review of the elements that are tested on the MCAT. The review sections include biological and biochemical foundations of living systems including cells, genetics, and metabolism. This focused section includes the nervous and endocrine systems. The second section covers chemical and physical foundations of biological systems which includes blood circulations, respiratory gas exchange and all the interactions in a biological system,. The third section looks at all the parameters of behaviour and includes the importance of social structure. THe final section reviews comprehension and understanding reasoning and critical thinking. All sections then lead to the 3 tests. The test questions are designed to test an understanding of clinical presentations of disease by questioning why a disease or symptom happens on the cellular level — not just the presentation of symptoms. the questions are well written and the correct answer is then explained and the incorrect answers are also explained. This methodology really forces the individual to think about the why which is focused on in the review section.
