An approachable and fun guide for starting your biz!
Biz stuff can be so intimidating, but Ilana breaks it down so nicely! This is packed with great information and thoughtful prompts that help you take action, figure out your biz details, and plan for the future.This workbook’s organization/content is on point and it’s sprinkled with beautiful designs and lots of motivation. I can feel how much thought and time she put into this. I especially appreciate how nice the paper is because my highlighter and ink don’t bleed through at all! (I’ve been using a post-it highlighter and micron pens.)

I’m a motion graphics designer by day and a freelance artist/designer and small business owner by night. I have spent a lot of time an energy over the last couple of years soaking up business advice and marketing insight like a sponge, which has included some exposure to the shenanigans of career coaches and marketing “experts”. I’m not the type to invest in self-help books or fluffy inspiration tools/guides, but I was excited to receive my copy of Mind Your Business in the mail. Its pages provide a great balance of fun and functional, with an aesthetic that feels joyful (I smiled when I opened it up for the first time and saw a handlettered quote from a Jen Gotch) but practical.Personally, I’m finding that this workbook is an opportunity to brainstorm and reflect without too much pressure. I’m taking to each page with a pen and a commitment to letting my first thoughts flow freely. It can be so hard to commit to ideas about ourselves and our businesses, especially when you’re writing in a beautiful book, but Mind Your Business has a sense of humor that takes some pressure off. This isn’t a rigid business plan— it’s a big collection of pages that encourage you to think and explore freely. As a perfectionist, I find that really exciting.If you’re the type to get stuck and bogged down by the details, and you need to refocus to push your business to the next level, I can’t recommend this enough.

I love this workbook! Plain and simple. I was getting several orders on social media for my art left and right before I even came up with a business name and logo and taxes and pricing and… it was a lot. I love this book!First of all, I want to talk about the design: you can see that Ilana is an awesome designer, the book is filled with beautiful hand written quotes which keep you motivated along your journey, I love the choice of neutral and pastel colours and how every chapter has its own colour palette.But onto the juicy stuff: this is the most complete book I’ve ever seen related to small and online businesses; I read a few of them in the past but most of the times they just focused on branding OR marketing OR planning, while this book has ALL the aforementioned topics and more! I feel it will become something close to a journal, which I’ll need to check out multiple times per day as it’s full of handy information.What I’ve never found in other books and to be honest I was pleasantly surprised to find it here is “Pricing” and “Legal Stuff” chapters! Obviously they are based on the US laws so if you’re a foreigner like me, you will still need to do your research locally regarding the legal counterpart of your business, but still! It gives you so many information about these sort of things which are easily overlooked by a newbie.So yes, I definitely suggest picking up your copy and be ready for an awesome business year ✨Bea.
