Only Three Cents –
Very good AMD laptop
My Three Cents:My Unc needed a serious laptop upgrade cause he wanted one for his work stuff but also to play games. He dont know a lot about specs, he just said he wanted it to be “real fast”. I did some research and this MSI Crosshair A16 looked like a beast. It has that new Ryzen 9 and the RTX 5060, so I knew it would handle pretty much anything. I was a little worried it was too much, but he wanted something that would last a long time.He is totaly blown away. He called me after he set it up and was just talking about how smooth the screen is (that 240Hz I guess). He’s been playing his games on max settings with no problem at all. And for his work, he said its super snappy, even with all his spreadsheets and 100 chrome tabs open. The 1TB of storage is also a huge plus, he wont have to delete games all the time. He keeps saying “this thing is a monster” lol. Def a good pick.

Aiming for glory
By far the best option for a mid-end laptop. My nephew absolutely loves this laptop since it’s one of the rare ones that have QHD resolution (1440p) with 240Hz refresh rate. Plenty of storage for indie games as well at 1TB of storage. The CPU is much stronger than the GPU, so for CPU intensive games, it’ll be perfect. That’s not the say you can’t run GPU intensive games since you’ll still have a RTX 5060. Performance will be boosted by the powerhouse of a CPU. Very portable laptop with its thin design which is convenient for my nephew when he comes over to LAN party with the family.

Not worth the investment past one year.
Battery life was never the 6 to 7 hours stated but now after less than two years, the battery drains to 20% from 100% in 49 minutes and without a heavy load at all. Streaming a video and it goes. About a month ago it started run HOT. Nvidia RTX runs ONLY when there are AAA games running, but the Intel GPU is running at almost 100%. GPU temp even with the fans running at 6600rpm stays at 156 degrees Fahrenheit and much higher. CPU at 170 degrees or more. After ANOTHER system lock I removed MSI’s app and when it restarted, the temps dropped to a maximum of 149 degrees. My 9 year old MacBook Pro 13″ with 8GB of RAM, and 128GB SSD needs the battery serviced yet it lasts 7 hours or more depending on what’s running. With this battery that needs to be serviced after almost a decade, the shortest battery time was 3 HOURS. Even playing Asphalt 9 on it ran better than it does on the MSI, plugged in or not. This machine has been upgraded to 64GB RAM, and a 1TB Samsung SSD. Instead of using the RAM it STILL caches to the SSD in GBs not MBs.I see they’re being sold still, and I cannot recommend it. If it has to stay plugged in, it isn’t a mobile device. Definitely a regretted purchase.
