This lively introduction to the fascinating world of science explores the different kinds of science, what scientists do, and the amazing things that scientists study: animals and plants; oceans and space; earthquakes and volcanoes; sound and light; inventions and more!
Make sure kids’ first experience of the wonders of science is a thrilling eye-opener with this fun reference book. Fun activities, games, and simple experiments encourage interactive learning, showing kids that anyone can use scientific observation and experimentation to be a scientist and discover new things. With bright images and age-appropriate text, this book inspires kids to be curious, ask questions, and explore the world around them and maybe even grow up to be a scientist one day, too! Topics include astronomy, botany, paleontology, malacology (that’s the science of clams, snails, and other animals with shells!), zoology, and more.

    Fun and engaging!
A bit wordy for a 3 year old, but with some simplification you can get the point(s) across. The fun colors, page design and real life photos make it easy too. This book is a favorite in our household.

Wonderful books for your own child also make great gifts.
We love the National Geographic books. My toddler will flip through them in his own and loves to explore them together. I think they make great theme gifts with accessories like binoculars, telescope, etc. These books are informative and attractive. As a mom I love when my son is gifted with books. He has so.many. toys. Most of which he could quite frankly care less about. He loooooves his books and I love that he gets so much use out of books. These books grow with children so they make wonderful gufts!

Nat geo is always a win
Big book, useful information. Son just turned 5, bought our first one from the collection when he was 3. He reads at a higher level, loves to learn about anything STEM. All of these first big books are perfect for him.

Product is fine, info is okay.
My nephew is 5 years old and loves science. I got this for him because he always asks questions and instead of YouTube all the time we are trying to get him into books lol. The pictures are great and the book is fine. You can never go wrong with Nat Geo. My issue it the information isn’t super informative. I was hoping there would be more facts. This is probably better for a kid who really isn’t into science and/or doesn’t know all that much. My nephew talks about vortexes and stratovolcanoes.

    Love the whole series
This is great for 4+. It’s maybe a bit beyond 4 year olds and even 5 year olds, but it seems to keep their interest well enough. Some of the descriptions do have vocabulary words that require some more explanation, but that’s a good thing. The photography is excellent. With repetition, I think this whole Big Book of… series provides really great early exposure to a bit of deeper explanation of things.

I took a look through the book before I gave it to my nephew. He has a collection of them, and he really enjoy them. I can see why, they keep things simple while still explaining quite a bit. I admit, even I learned a thing or two from the book. The pictures accommodating every subject are great as you would expect from an NG photographer. It might be a bit too simple at time, my nephew is only 5years old but he already knew a lot of the said in it. If your nephew a lover of science like mine, you might consider something else.

A great overview book, although my daughter would have liked more detail. Perhaps that’s in another book
