Small but versatile
Nice little radio with 4 frequency bands. AM FM SW and weather. Also, it can be powered by its built in battery or AAA cells or its plug in power supply. It is a very good value and is highly recommended for emergency use when the utility power is not available.

Works as Advertized
A lot of technology and buttons packed into a small package. Will take a little study but directions are detailed and easy to read.Bought one for myself and then 4 more for family! The only two things I would recommend would be a longer power cord (very short) and a backlight which would stay on (it only stays on for 15 seconds). With those two improvements I guess it would be 6 stars! It’s primary use for me is the Noaa emergency alert but it also has AM, FM, SHORT WAVE and Weather.

No channel memory/favorites and no power on memory of last tuned station
This is an exceptionally capable, lightweight radio – with a couple of key things missing and odd button placement. I bought it on a suggestion from Kim Komando. It has many great functions and abilities – but I will list the things I would change . First, the volume up and down buttons are reversed from what an American user would expect. They have + on left and – on right. Tune buttons would seem reversed as well. The big deal for me though is – NO ability to memorize favorite channels. ALSO, every time I turn the radio on, it starts in Wx mode – silent, so you have to pick the band you were last on and re-tune the radio every single time it’s powered on. This radio has SO MANY other abilities, that it seems these should be possible. And yet, these items are noticeably missing. In all other ways, the radio is great – and so I did not return it, but now have it as a monitor/backup source during storms and outages. I am giving it 4 stars instead of 5 due to the two missing items I think it should have.

Good for emergencies or hiking.
Bought this after a long power outage last year. Was nice to have a backup in case it happened again. Radio works well and seems like a well built machine. If you ever use the SOS siren either on purpose or accident, it is LOUD and will easily be heard. Small enough to tuck in a small area but still looks and works well.

The best all-in-1 radio for emergencies. Everything you need to charge, stay safe, and informed.
This is a great compact all-in-one radio purchased as part of my emergency & hiking kit. I bought this specifically for the hand crank feature, NOAA & the built-in 5000 mAh battery power bank to guarantee a working radio/alerts/flashlight when all other charging options are unavailable or have failed. While the digital version was appealing, a LCD display does use power and will eventually fail which kinda’ defeats the purpose. I also wanted something that was lightweight and portable for me to carry vs the old worldstar “portable” unit my boyfriend insists on lugging around. It wasn’t until recently that we got to compare the two units and this had much better radio reception and we could actually pick up more active bands and NOAA weather channels during a ‘real tropical disturbance’ (Debbie) than his portable! It appears this little radio not only picks up weather alerts and SW bands, but it also picks up a wider range of local radio stations not available on our other home units. The sound quality is better than what you’d expect for this size radio. Actually, it’s quite impressive. The audio comes in clear and decent on the internal speaker & on headphones when using the jack (with or without the telescopic antenna extended). I’ve tested pretty much all the functions and have accidentally set off the SOS alarm (it definitely works by the way & so does the red flasher!). Everything works great. Even the flash light & reading lamp puts out good illumination and with the strapped on NSEW compass you might be able to get your bearings. It’s still a hard call of how efficient the unit will be when tested under a live situation, but hopefully it won’t come to that. It charges reasonably quickly for USB and AC, with solar being the more timely followed by hand cranking. With a 5000 mAh battery I should be able to rely on this as a decent backup should my Anker die. Anyway, as the saying goes, ‘it’s better to have and not need, than to need and not have’. I’m happy to ‘have’ the Solar Crank CR1009 as part of my emergency kit to keep me informed during emergencies. It’s takes up little space and weighs under 15 oz, making it extremely portable to carry in your over nighter, sling bag, sport bag, backpack, etc. when hiking, camping, glamping etc. You can also attach or hang it with the carabiner provided. The only feature not included was making it waterproof and that’s easily solved with a ziplock gallon bag.Overall, this is exactly what I was looking for. It’s plain, simple, compact, reliable, well built, and at a good price point. It’s your life line to staying safe and informed during unexpected weather events whether it be blizzard, wildfire, flash floods, earthquake, hurricane, electrical storms, etc. This is totally worth every penny and 5 Stars! Highly recommend.

As advertised. The radio is better than I expected. I thought it would sound tinny, but it was better. The lights are good. The buttons work. And the siren is loud.

No need to manually rotate a tuning knob from channel to channel. Scan feature alone is worth paying the extra money, compared to the cheapest radios. This emergency weather radio will even alert you with an audible alarm if there is an “Alert” on a channel, even if you are sleeping and have the radio in Standby mode. Again, well worth the extra cost, compared to less expensive units that would require you to actively listen for alerts. Plan to use this radio to alert me of a Tornado Warning/Watch and then use weather radar on cell phone weather app to estimate my relative danger (I’m assuming that I’ll be able to recognize a Tornado on the weather radar). Realize that phone may broadcast an emergency alert, but when camping I’d like to have an earlier (general) warning that this radio provides, so that I can be prepared. Very impressed with the sound quality, the features and with the convenient small size.Would definitely recommend.
