In most ways superior to my Firestick, but I have improvement suggestions…
I have been a long-time user of the Amazon Firesticks. I have many of them at my homes and also travel internationally with one. I use a few applications and subscribe to a half dozen streaming services including Prime. There are pros and cons to the Roku compared to my prior experiences:PROS:1. Better user interface.2. Better integrated program guide, which is more neutral to streaming media vs. Firestick which is optimized for Amazon Prime users. For example, it works nicer with my Google systems.3. More third-party support for add-ins and customizations.4. Nicer remote control.CONS:1. Not as controllable with Alexa home control system.2. Setting up new televisions is not as convenient. Because I travel a lot, I must set up my stick with a new television as much as three times per week. The Amazon set up for this works faster. The main difference is I can control volume (and channel, but I rarely use that). I wish these systems had a more reliable way to also switch inputs on these televisions, but hotels make that complex.3. Setting up hotel networks is not as convenient. See above about travel. The Firestick allows me to browse a hotel website to set up a connection, but the Roku forces me to connect to its internal WiFi transceiver with a separate device (like my phone) to log into the hotel network. This works but is far less convenient and slower.4. I wish the remote had removable batteries (or a way to physically switch off the remote). Because I travel extensively when I pack the Roku sometimes it comes out of my bag with little to no battery, because something ended up pressing buttons on the remote. That’s inconvenient because I have to charge the remote before I can use the Roku. With my Firestick I just remove the batteries when it travels and put them back in when I’m ready to install.5. The charging cord is a bit unwieldy and yet somehow necessary. The Firestick was more self-contained. When I travel I notice a lot of hotels have a Google device already connected to the TV. With the Firestick I can just pull the micro USB and HDMI cables out of that device and into the Firestick. With the Roku I have to pull the USB-A end out of the power cable. Small difference, but it means I have to access more of the back panel of the TV, and often hotels do not make that easy. But, overall, I have replaced my Firestick with the Roku as my travel companion.

    Second Roku. First Stick
So, I bought an ultra and the 4k+. I got the 4k PLUS so the remote in the bedroom would work with the ultra in the living room and is the upgraded volume control and headphone plug. Score. The cheaper two rokus do not connect to 5g and you will find your streaming spins and spins.Don’t buy the 4k stick with the lower quality remote. But beware, the 4k PLUS! is hard to find except here in Amazon. I returned several to target etc when I realized none accepted 5g till I got home. **Watch for the 4K “+”.**. Love the Roku tho. These are my 2nd pairs as Roku has a habit of overnight deciding to “no longer support” their devices. Never buy the lowest one marked down everywhere. They may “stop supporting” it in a few months. Which makes it dead btw. A brick. But if you have an old TV or like me, your smart tv no longer matches the upgrade Amazon or Hulu or Netflix did so you can’t stream anymore, this is the PERFECT solution. Tv is fine. Planned obsolescence wants us to buy a new tv so they tweak the software enough to make our TV no longer “see” with their streaming app. But, plus roku.com has TONS of free channels and if like me, you like the old easier, less violent, slower shows of the 1990, 2000, and 2010s, get a Roku ultra or a 4kPLUS. (the sound stick seems on sale everywhere so ? How much longer Roku with support it?) Hundreds of free channels. Even some live and free. No more $200 cable bill.Plug the USB charger to the wall/suppressor, the USB to your TV won’t be enough juice and most likely won’t work. Just saying. Tried two different good TVs. Not sure why it’s even an option. Just use the USB brick.

Simple, Reliable, and a Pleasure to Use
I’ve had my collection of Roku devices over the years. When the Roku Streaming Stick 4K+ was announced this year, I immediately ordered one. It has been a pleasure to use. It is only marginally better than the former Roku Streaming Stick+, but the improvements are worthwhile.PROS:- FAST! I find that although the former Roku Streaming Stick+ was fast loading apps, this one is noticeably faster. Apps load up almost instantaneously.- Convenient user-programmable shortcut keys. I primarily watch YouTube on the Roku and set user key 1 to launch YouTube. One press of a button and YouTube is up (even in the TV is off)!- Volume controls and TV power. I have eliminated all of the other remote controls — I just need the Roku remote.- Voice control. Although I don’t use it that much, it’s nice to have. If I’m searching for something (especially if it’s a long title), it’s nice to just press the microphone button and speak what I want.- Great WiFi reception. I don’t run into any connectivity issues or spooling issues. It is connected to my 5 GHz WiFi network and works great.- Built-in headphone jack on the remote. I haven’t used it yet, but had an occasional need for it in the past and didn’t have it then. I’ll be ready now!- Rechargeable remote. This is VERY nice! It used to be a bit annoying when the batteries would die on the old remote. Now, if the battery runs low, I just plug it in overnight and it’s good-to-go the next morning.CONS:- Can be difficult to plug into the back of some TVs. The stick is a bit longer than the prior stick. It is slightly longer than the recess on the back of my TV. I had to wedge it into the HDMI port. Alternatively, you can buy a short HDMI extension cable, but it would be nicer if Roku didn’t have this challenge. Google Chromecast has a short pigtail HDMI cable that makes it easier to plug into tight spaces.Overall, I am very pleased with it. To make it better, I bought a silicone case for it. This makes it so the Roku doesn’t slip out of your hands, fall off the armrest, etc. I also added a short lanyard to the fabric tab at the bottom, making it even easier to grab and use.Link to silicone case I bought for the remote: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09BZCTFMR?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2_dt_b_product_details
