Discover The 33 Laws of Stoic Discipline: Your Keys To (Literal) God-Like Self-Discipline

Have you ever felt like you know exactly what you should be doing to achieve your goals… but you just can’t seem to find the discipline to actually do it?

The ancient Stoics tell us this happens because human beings are half god, half animal…

We have a divine element: the part of us endowed with reason, which we share with the gods. This part of us is capable of rational forethought—and thus delayed gratification and self-discipline.

And we have an animal element: the part of us that’s moved by instinct, impulse, and emotion—which we share with the animals. This is the part of us that succumbs to instant gratification and indiscipline.

To be self-disciplined, the Stoics tell us, means to make the god within—not the animal within—the master of our choices. It means living in accordance with our highest nature, not our lowest impulses.

To accomplish this, the ancient Stoics developed an arsenal of powerful psychological techniques for ensuring the rational part of our nature stays firmly in control. (These techniques are so powerful they inspired modern cognitive therapy.)

Those techniques are what you’ll discover in this book.

Here’s just a fraction of what you’ll learn:

Gladiator Mindset: 3 secrets to extreme mental toughness the Stoics discovered by studying the toughest gladiatorsRole Model Method: How Epictetus used mental role models to make self-discipline automaticStart Your Day Like A Roman Emperor: Marcus Aurelius’s morning routine for mastering self-discipline (the same practices he used to maintain steely self-mastery despite plagues, wars, and betrayals)Stoic Goal Setting: The ancient goal-setting secret used by Roman emperors and rediscovered by modern champions like Michael Phelps and Serena Williams (it makes your discipline 10X stronger!)Become Superhuman: The ancient Stoic secret that inspired Nietzsche’s Übermensch concept—and how to use it to push past what you thought was humanly possibleSeneca’s Evening Review: “Admit not sleep into your tender eyelids / Till you have reckoned up each deed of the day…” Learn the Stoic daily review system (now used by Navy SEALs)Socrates’ Secret: How to make self-discipline feel effortless and fun (instead of a constant struggle)

    Good information here
I’m new to learning about stoicism, and this was a great introduction. The layout is straightforward and I enjoyed the addition of the illustrations throughout (a stick man giving you the thumbs up couldn’t be more clear). Mann provides examples in our day-to-day where we might employ stoic techniques (mindfulness is big here) and the references to historical figures (Seneca, Aurelius etc) are helpful. Overall, it’s a speedy read that’ll get you started.

Great book, excellent links to charts, funny but thought-provoking images. A must-read!
I really loved this book! The author has taken self-control techniques first imagined by ancient stoics, such as Epictetus, Seneca, Marcus Aurelius, etc., and applied them to modern life. I liked so many of the techniques and plan to apply them in my own life, but here are a few that really stood out for me. The first one, The Delay Tactic, tells the reader to put off something they want or crave for just a little while. After a bit, you may notice that you’re not craving the ‘thing’. Along the same lines is The Do-Later List, wherein you write down the thing you really want to do, such as watch TV, scroll social media, etc. After you’ve finished your work, you may come back and do the things on your Do-Later list without guilt. I love number two: Memento Mori, which means “Remember You Will Die”. With this exercise, you contemplate how much time you’ve already lived and how much time you have left to live. Would you rather spend your remaining days surfing the ‘net or working towards something you can be proud of? There is a link to a chart at the end with boxes to represent every week you’ve lived and have yet to live. This chart was so completely sobering for me! I’m 2/3 through my boxes, assuming I live a long life! Really, all of these little tricks would be so effective at helping you to be a productive person and accomplish things in your lifetime that you can be proud of. Great book. I recommend!

Quick Read- easy to understand – overpriced at $19
I guess it depends on what you’re looking for. I was expecting a larger book and a more in-depth read. It’s 95 pages and basically a cliff notes for stoicism. It was a nice quick read, and there is a helpful summary in the back that you can review on a daily basis. It’s a good starter book and I’ll be buying others with more in-depth content. Still wondering who Dominic Mann is. Is he actually a person or was this written by AI. It’s not your typical book format as it goes directly to the content and skips a lot of the junk that occupies the first 20 pages in most books.. It must be a new Amazon format as there was another book I bought that was laid out very similar. There are downloadable trackers and tools. All in all, it was very helpful and easy to comprehend, but I do feel it’s overpriced at $19.

Unlocking the Power of Stoic Discipline
This book explores the classic ideas of Stoicism, providing readers with practical ways to build self-discipline and mental strength. The author writes in a clear and engaging style, making it easy for anyone unfamiliar with Stoic philosophy to understand. What I found most valuable was how the book relates ancient Stoic ideas to modern-day challenges, like procrastination and acting on impulse. The “Gladiator Mindset” and “Role Model Method” were particularly interesting and empowering, combining historical lessons with everyday situations. However, I noticed that some parts felt repetitive, and it would have been helpful to discuss how these strategies could fit different personalities or lifestyles.Overall, this book serves as a great guide for anyone wanting to improve their self-control and live a more disciplined life. It’s practical, motivating, and packed with wisdom that remains relevant today.

    Awesome Foundational Discipline Techniques!
Over the years, I’ve read many books about how to create self-discipline, how to improve myself, and how to get more things done. This book showed me that the core of all of those elements that I’ve learned and the techniques that I’ve trained myself to do have a foundation back in the stoic philosophy found in this book. It provided great insight, quick actionable and easy to understand techniques, and reinforced what I had thought about in the past but gave me more options for self controlling techniques. I especially like the fact that gave me the historical understanding for each technique. The book will become something that I pass alone to others. And refer to often to keep myself centered on self-discipline techniques that I can use everydand motivate me to do better.

Excellent guide with practical steps to apply them in daily life
This book is very clear and outlines all the different principles of stoicism that lead to a more self-disciplined life and way of living. There are a lot of tiny habits that we can practically adopt. The book details 33 principles, each with a quote, explanation, and some helpful images and steps to putting them into practice. The author also includes links to download worksheets and templates to go with some of the practices.

Might leave some readers wanting more
This book is a quick read, which is great if you’re looking for a no-nonsense introduction to Stoic self-discipline. The structure is straightforward, with 33 techniques drawn from classic Stoic philosophers like Epictetus, Seneca, and Marcus Aurelius. Some of the advice, like delaying gratification or reflecting on your day, is practical and easy to implement. Illustrations add a nice touch and help reinforce key points. That said, it feels more like a collection of bite-sized Stoic lessons rather than a deep dive into self-discipline. If you’re already familiar with Stoicism, you might find a lot of repetition or things you’ve heard before. Additionally, it doesn’t always go into how to apply the actionable tips in real-world situations.Overall, it’s a good introduction, but it might leave some readers wanting a bit more.

This is all about using discipline to find happiness – using your thoughts, actions, habits and decisions to become less animal and more ‘god-human’. Each Stoic principle described in the book is a little golden nugget of wisdom to remember and take with you in day-to-day life. Every short chapter is useful. And this makes it easy to dip into when you need a boost. There are also lots of handy links to downloadable worksheets and templates – including a sobering ‘momento mori’ calendar. A must-read for anyone wanted a fast-track route into Stoicism and leading a more intentional, thoughtful and rewarding life, fulfilling your true potential.

This book is a powerful guide to building self-control using ancient Stoic wisdom. It teaches practical tools for mastering your mind and emotions, with examples from philosophers like Seneca and Marcus Aurelius. I found the daily routines and goal-setting techniques especially useful. The bonus worksheets and cheat sheets help turn these ideas into real habits. If you want more discipline in life, this book is a great place to start.
