Keeps my laptop cool while in use
The Targus 17-inch Dual Fan Lap Chill Mat is the second chill mat I have purchased for my laptop. The first chill pad was a different brand. In my opinion, the Targus chill mat is a superior product to my first chill pad. The operation of the fans is quiet, and they run consistently without issue. I have not had an issue with my laptop feeling hot since I stated using the chill pad. The pad on the bottom of the chill mat provides a soft and comfortable barrier for the lap while working with laptop on lap. At first I had difficulty locating the USB cord that connects to the laptop and thought it had not been included in the package. On further exploration, the USB cord was located tucked securely between the plastic top of the mat and the soft neoprene bottom. The chill pad is not bulky or difficult to manipulate. It has bumpers to keep the computer in place which, based on my experience, could be improved on. I may add my own silicon pads. Overall, I am extremely pleased with my purchase and at this point I would not hesitate to buy one again.

It REALLY works and cools down my laptop.
I love this cooling pad. Initially I was concerned about the foam on it, fearing that my laptop (IdeaPad) might be too hot for it. It is not. You do not have to adjust the height and it is a comfortable height for sitting on my lap. My husband says that it is very quiet and quieter than my Kooteck Cooling pad. I do miss having extra USB ports that the Kootech has but am still very happy with this. Theire are bumps on the pad which keep my laptop from moving around. It is fairly lightweight as well compared the the Kooteck and is very comfortable on my lap. Most importantly, it keeps my laptop cool which I find amazing. Believe me, I’m checking it to right now and the bottom of the laptop is not hot. The one fan works fine and the air flow is great.

Effective but could be more powerful
10/29/25 Update: after using it for quite a long while, I’m surprised at how effective it is. I still think the outfit could be better, but either way it does a good job of keeping my laptop cool. It’s not perfect but certainly a good addition to my setup.======Original review:I think this is OK. I’m disappointed in the output though. I have a tough time even telling if the fan is on when I put my hands on the open air pathways. It IS quiet, but I think that’s partly a function of it not being very powerful. Ultimately, I think it is a net plus in terms of helping to cool my laptop somewhat, but it really could do a better job.

Great cooling and super comfortable
This cooling pad works exactly the way it should. The dual fans push out plenty of airflow and keep my laptop noticeably cooler, even during gaming and long work sessions. It’s quiet, lightweight, and the soft neoprene bottom makes it really comfortable to use on my lap. The 17-inch size fits my laptop perfectly with room to spare. Plug-and-play with USB power is simple and reliable. If you need a solid cooling mat that actually drops your temps, this one is worth it.

Great laptop chill pad
This is a great laptop cooling pad and does exactly what I wanted. Most cooling pads are hard plastic with pointy legs. I actually use my laptop on my lap, so these other types are very uncomfortable. The Targus chill mat is very soft and comfortable, while still being rigid and supportive. Just a thin layer of cushion on both sides makes all the difference. I did have to get used to the increase in height but it is worth while.And most importantly, it WORKS. My Dell laptop would get So hot very quickly that it was uncomfortable both on the top and the bottom. As soon as I plug in the fan it is cooled off within just a couple minutes. I highly recommend this cooling pad. I don’t know how long it will last. I often forget to unplug the fan when I stop using the laptop because it is SO SILENT so it runs overnight. I Have to lift the laptop and put my hand over it to tell if the fans are running.Overall very pleased. I paid full price for this and am not compensated for this review, just a happy customer. Not as Described – Used Item was Dirty and Nonfunctional
I ordered a used version of this product, which was listed as having damaged packaging but described as new and in mint condition. Unfortunately, what I received was clearly not mint. The item had visible signs of prior use—it was filthy, with dirt buildup under the fans, debris embedded in the fabric, and a chipped plastic edge that looked like someone had tried to pry it open. When I plugged it in, the fans didn’t work at all.I’m sure this product performs well when truly new, but the “used, mint condition” listing was misleading. Resellers really need to inspect customer returns more carefully to prevent situations like this.Despite the condition of the item I received, I gave it 3 stars because the design itself still meets my needs. It has a soft fabric backing, rubber feet to prevent slipping, and offers a comfortable typing angle without being too bulky. I’ve decided to order a brand-new version instead of risking another used one. I’ll update my review and rating once I receive the replacement.

I looked at allot of these coolers as lately I’ve been doing some video editing in bed before sleep and my MacBook M2 16 inch gets a bit warm if pushed. Plus it’s hot on my lap.So I thought I’d give this a shot as it wasn’t as expensive as most others but seemed like it would do the job.Firstly it’s very comfortable on my lap now. I can be glued to my screen for a long time while my laptop is sitting on this Tagus cooler. It’s because it has a neoprene style bottom. It’s comfortable.The build quality is good, but this isn’t a heavy duty build I would say. It is rather lightweight and angled. It has a usb A cord that protrudes from its side so it can be plugged in to your laptop. New Mac users need an adapter which is 5 bucks on amazon.There are two sizeable fans in the middle of the stand that blow air towards the bottom of your laptop. They are extremely quiet and unless I put my ear right next to the laptop cooler I can’t hear them at all. There is only one speed. But, even with my video editing it keeps my MacBook Pro cool therefore I don’t feel anything warm on my thighs either.I would buy this again. It’s a good product and works.Recommended.

It is just as described- portable and lightweight, and so far working satisfactorily. Used with my Asus Zenbook as well as Lenovo ThinkPad, cooling and airflow all good.

Simple unit that does the job. I don’t think it blows as much cool air as the advertising implies, but it’s better than nothing and it keeps the laptop off flat surfaces to get airflow. I use it on my actual lap without issue.
