Terasako Magnetic Charging Cable 5-Pack (3/3/6/6/10FT) – 540° Rotating Magnetic Phone Charger Cable with LED Light – 90° Angle Connector, Nylon-Braided Cords (Black)

I wish I found these cables a decade ago.
You get 5 cables and enough connectors such that I rarely need to move the connectors, which means I can charge almost everything, in multiple locations, easily attach and remove, with ease.The cables are floppy because they carry no data, only power: They don’t need the shielding for full data cables, so they can be floppy enough to not be annoyingly stiff. In addition to the floppy-ness, they have swivel ends and pin-barrel magnetic points that can rotate. All of these put together mean these cables are as easy to connect and stay connected as possible to any device without worrying as much about the length or position of the cable; the cable doesn’t fight you as much plugging it in or moving the device once plugged in to a different resting position.I can yank the cable by accident and the magnet just disconnects without fuss, even at a 90deg angle where the USB would never auto-disconnect. I can quickly pull the device like a game controller or a phone from the cable without worrying abut breaking the connector (or worse; the port inside of the device) which is excellent if you have a bluetooth battery game controller that you might have forgotten to charge the night before, the cable is so much less stiff than a regular USB cable I can leave it attached while I still play even with motion controls, and if it finally does annoy me I can just yank it off quickly without issue. The magnetic connection is strong enough it almost never falls off but you can easily break the connection when you want to.I should point out, if you rotate the magnet-barrel head-to-head connection too much, you can and will disconnect the power for short milliseconds. If you are charging a battery device that’s not an issue, if you are powering something that has state without a battery, you will drop state/reset the machine, so I wouldn’t use these cables to power a RaspberryPi or anything like that.It’s waaaay faster to attach devices to a charger too, the magnet doesn’t care about angle and as a magnet it will auto-connect at short distances, so I find myself keeping devices charged more because I don’t have to deal with plugging in USB micro at just the right angle anymore with just the right alignment, I can wiggle the cable end at the device and they auto-connect with minimal effort. I wish I found these cables back in 2010 when everything was USB mini and micro, and USB c alleviated some of the pain of plugging in USB micro, but this is still a good quality of life improvement even now.Each cable comes with a tiny blue LED in the cable, I thought it was silly until I realized it makes it way easier to find the phone charging cable next to my bed in the dark, as the light isn’t that bright but is visible in pitch black.The issues with this system:Now you have a (magnetic) charging wort connector plugged into everything all the time, so your phone will have a nub sticking out of it, and you might have to whittle down some of your smartphone case to get it to stay in there all of the time. There are some devices that this connector does not fit into as well, I have a flashlight with silicon cover that doesn’t give enough space for the connect to sit, so keep that in mind the connector clearance can be an issue. The magnet will automatically collect metal dust/filings too, so maybe don’t buy into this if you work with tools that produce lots of metal shavings, or you might pick up metal debris on the magnets.After using these cables for a year, one of the connections (cable side) is getting flaky, and at certain angles of connector rotation it will disconnect and re-connect to my phone every 30ish seconds (waking the phone up and making it spit a notification about now being connected), but I can usually rotate the connector a bit and it stops, and this is only one of my cables so far (cleaning it has not fixed the issue though, I suspect the pin in the center is the weak point)edit: after deeper clean with rubbing alcohol the intermittent connecting head is working without issue, so I can at least kick the can down the roadWith only one $22 pack of cables and connectors I have barely enough connectors for everything I have, although I think I just have more stuff than most people. I don’t, however, have a use for all of these lightning connectors, and wish I could buy a version with more USB micro and c instead, although that might happen anyway now that lightning is being deprecated.You now have a wort stuck in your USB slot that is actually kinda hard to get out unless you have strong finger nails or a tool on hand, this wasn’t always an issue (my phone has fast WIFI so I can transfer all files over WIFI and ignore the USB slot) but then I got a USB C camera for my phone and now need to carry a small pick-lick tool on my keychain to get the charging head to come out of my phone now and then to use the camera.Edit: I should note I usually only charge with 5v (old USB voltage, not the newer power delivery adjustable voltage), I don’t have a lot of use right now for fast charging PD at 9+ volts, so the cable’s ability to handle it is untested. I’ve only used them with 5v 3a at max.

Full disclosure – this was something I really didn’t need, but there was a good deal on Amazon, so…Now I wish I would have got this awesome bundle sooner!They really have seemed to have thought this product out – the magnets are very strong, the swivel on the business end of the cable works well, and you gotta love that blue light to help you find it when you need it (and it does look cool). Everything seems quality made.This particular bundle is generous and versatile too – you get 4 each micro, type C and i connectors, 2 three foot cables, 2 six foot cables and one 10 foot cable. The connectors come in 2 small plastic storage containers. Need more? You can buy extra connectors separately.For those concerned about brand, someone else here mentioned that the box they received doesn’t have the advertised company name on it (Terasako), so they thought they got a generic product – they posted a picture of the box. I got the same packaging, and it’s true that the Terasako brand name isn’t prominent on it, but on the backside, there is a support email address and website with the Terasako name.The first immediate task I used this for was to charge my Samsung phone – it has a micro USB connection, which is one of the connectors included in this bundle. Even with a phone case, the connector attached no problem (but now I see how some phone cases could be problematic with some cables). I used one of the shorter cables, it connected without issue and my phone charged in a reasonable amount of time. And again, that blue light isn’t just a gimmick!I’m sure to find other uses for this because I have lots of gear with micro and type C connectors.If I run into any concerns, I will edit my review, but so far I’ve been very impressed with the quality and performance of this product. 🙂

Great device & quality built, magnetic coupling is great if you happen to accidently pull on the cord. Charging rate NOT so good. As there is no physical plug directly into the device charging is very, very slow.

The magnets on this are very strong I held up my 10inch tablet by the cable shook it about and the cable stayed together by the magnets,very pleased with my purchase. Great value for money as you get a pack of 5 cables with the magnetic attachments.
