Now a New York Times bestselling series! Leo tries to lead his team to glory in some of the most exciting, high-stakes soccer in the world!

Last season, Leo and his teammates saved the Lewisham Knights by avoiding a last-place finish in the U14 Premier League. Their future looks bright―until they learn the adult Knights have dropped down to the second division, again putting the future of the U14s in jeopardy.

All might not be lost. The team owner has entered the U14s in the Tournament of Champions, which takes place over the summer. Leo and his teammates will pack their bags and travel across Europe to play against some of the top youth teams in the world. But the tournament isn’t just for pride and a trophy. Something else is at stake: a loophole that allows the winner of the tournament to stay in the youth Premier League. The competition will be fiercer than ever. No one is giving the Knights a chance to win. As if the tourney wasn’t enough to deal with, someone is trying to sabotage the team, and the Knights have a new star player with a serious attitude problem.

The mountain to climb has never seemed so high. Can Leo find a way to pull his team together and have a fighting chance in the Tournament of Champions?

The inspiring, action-packed third book in The Academy series is perfect for young readers 7-13 and for sports fans of all ages.

Great Book for a Soccer Lover
We gave my nine year old the first Academy book in October for his birthday. Once he picked it up, he hated to put it down. He purchased the second book and did the same. For a Christmas gift he received the third. It’s been less than three days and he’s devouring the book. He’s already asked for book four. (Hint to author)The book is fictional based but he’s picking up a lot of soccer language. The humor is appropriate Anne he will read passages because he loves the book.I would recommend this series for anyone young person who loves the game and they’ll thoroughly enjoy reading it.

    Love this series
My kids and I adore this books series and have read all 4 books. We have also purchased the books as gifts for several friends and have purchased the audiobooks 1 and 2 for ourselves, which we have listened to them too many times to recall. Please come out with audiobooks for 3 and 4 soon so we can expand our listening content!

The third instalment of, ‘The Academy’ series by T.Z Layton is another winning book detailing the youth football adventures of Leo .K. Doyle. This time, everyone’s favourite ‘yank’ is in Europe and, whilst the vivid descriptions of European cities and edge-of-your seat football games keep you enthralled throughout, perhaps the most intriguing part of this book is the mystery that runs throughout it. My 9yo and I are reading it together and we’re thoroughly enjoying ourselves, theorising who the culprit(s) may be! As much as we love Leo, experiencing JoJo’s character develop so brilliantly in this third instalment of, ‘The Academy’ is an absolute joy. My son and I literally cannot wait for book 4! Highly recommended!

My 11 year old footballing daughter loves this series and how the author describes excitingly how the matches are being played out – just a shame the books are so hard to get other than via Amazon. She’s read them all and keen for the next one to be released! Note the author is American so children might not always understand some of the references.

This is a great book. For kids and adults who like football this is an awesome read. Only complaint is being written by an american the book incorrectly keeps calling football, soccer and has this oh I am an American playing football attitude and isn’t in love with the really originally great clubs like Liverpool and Man U, but seems to be an oil and plastic money Chelsea and Man city
