Tiger Pose VariationTiger Pose Variation

Tiger Pose variation

Place your back shin in a corner where two walls meet.

There is a chance you will not be able to get your shin flush against the wall in this variation, which is OK! Be sure to wedge the foot, toenail-side facing the wall, into the corner where the two walls meet. The corner will help guide your back shin toward the center and therefore level your hips. While the full shin does not need to contact the wall, it should align with the edges of the wall, perpendicular to the floor.

Sage Visvamitra’s PoseSage Visvamitra’s Pose

Sage Visvamitra’s Pose

Kneel with your heel on a chair seat and use a block to raise the height of the floor.

Begin by kneeling and placing the heel of your left foot on the front edge of the chair seat with your toes pointing up. Lean your torso to the left, placing your left hand on a block to reduce the distance between you and the floor. With your right arm, reach overhead for the left foot. If needed, use a strap to bridge the gap between your hand and foot. If you would like to intensify the pose, extend the bottom leg fully as if you were in side plank. Repeat on the other side.

Sleeping Vishnu Pose variationSleeping Vishnu Pose variation

Sleeping Vishnu Pose variation

Place a bolster or rolled-up blanket under your ribs and armpit.

This variation of sleeping Vishnu bridges the gap between your armpit and the floor when supporting your head in your hand or resting on your forearm. This addition not only offers a comfortable surface for you to release into, providing greater stability, but it also gently stimulates and massages the lymph nodes under the armpit, possibly promoting immune-boosting effects. It is particularly beneficial for individuals with limited mobility in the shoulders and sides of the body, because it helps create a safe and accessible space to explore the pose with increased comfort and ease. Repeat on the other side.

    props advance your practice
This text should be mandatory for all YTTs as the majority of teachers do not know what they are doing and only teach to one body type. YOU know it is true.I learned a lot of the contents of this book from my instructors; however, I was lucky to fall into one of the best studios in the world by random chance. It is nice to have it available as a book since most yogis don’t write things down. Thanks to their knowledge I was able to still practice while having a hip labrum tear. There are a few things missing which would help with self assists.Highly recommended for yogi bros, don’t be that guy trying to be as flexible as the girls in class.

    Yoga made easy for anyone!
Jenny makes even the most daunting yoga poses accessible for everyone. I’ve been able to manage all of the aches and pains of a sedentary WFH lifestyle that had progressed to the point of being unbearable. Would recommend to any yogi from the novice to the experienced.

Great insights for yoga teachers with diverse students!
I love sharing yoga with people of all ages and with different physical abilities. The author Jenny Clise is soo knowledgeable about yoga and how to use props to get the best possible form. I am already trying things for my own practice (they really are beneficial for all levels) and will be sharing these new techniques with seniors shortly.

    Great Book
This book has so many different ways to do yoga with props to enhance your workout. I have been doing yoga for a while, but wanted to do more with my props. It offers easier variations of the stretching exercises. Great for a beginner or novice.

A great resource for yoga teachers…
I have been teaching yoga for 14 years and this is a great resource. Even though I was familiar with a lot of the options it is nice to have them all in one place and there were quite I few that were new. It is well put together, concise and clear with wonderful pictures

Godsend for someone over 30 trying to be an athlete
I love outdoor sports but my body feels broken all the time nowadays. Incorporating props into my yoga practice helps me get deep stretches in poses I normally struggle with or don’t attempt at all. The thoughtful descriptions and images help me with my form. This book is part of holistic program for my body that helps me to continue to explore the mountains!
