If you’re watching your weight, get this great book! Works for keto people.
This is one of the books I would call a Great Book because it is so comprehensive and helpful. I am doing a keto diet, which is working really well, and this little book, easy to put into a pocket, is a fantastic guide. It has a good table of contents and a fine index (I think every book should have an index – so easy to do with today’s software). The book lists tons of foods and food components, showing portions, calories, and in grams – fat, saturated fat, carbs, fiber, sugar, and protein. And in mg, sodium, vitamin D, calcium, iron, and potassium. The second section lists popular chain restaurants and their entrees, sides, and desserts. I am amazed by how much is packed into this guide. I look mostly at carbs and fiber (total carbs minus fiber gives net carbs, handy for a keto dieter.I’ve gone through the book with a highlighter to identify foods and restaurant items that have low enough net carbs. I can see at a glance what works. This book has been a key component to a 10 pound loss in 5 weeks. The only unfortunate part for me is the realization of how many foods at restaurants don’t fit keto, and how many foods and components also have too many net carbs. Another downer is the portion size – such as 3 oz for many meats. The book has taught me to look at nutritional tables on food packages. I have now found some keto foods, such as bread, rolls, crunchy snacks, among other things. The keto foods are expensive, but limiting eating out because of few acceptable meals balances the more expensive foods. This book is worth every penny. In case it is not clear, I recommend this book highly. Happy informed eating.

Missing just one thing…
THis little pocket book does give much information. Everything I would need to make smart choices for CKD. But it is missing one nutrient…phosphorus. I think they could have left off one of the Vitamins and replaced it with phosphorus. The book is formatted in lists and table form. It does have small print and if it had separation lines that would make it better. The table lists Food, amount, calories, protein, fat, carbs, sodium, potassium, sugars, fiber, 6 different vitamins. Much good information..T

Not for me
Half of the book is restaurant food and I don’t go to the restaurants they’ve included – fast food and chains. Seems to me that people watching what they eat and who would use this wouldn’t either. I’ve found that it doesn’t always include all the methods to cook so you guesstimate.

Great Companion to Dieting
Real handy if you’re on a low carb low calorie diet and want to eat out at chain restaurants. Beats having to look up every part of a meal on the internet.

It has just about every food in it!!
This is the best calorie book I ever had. It has just about everything in it. I wasn’t sure about all the restaurant information being helpful but it really is. When you start looking at the calories, fat, carbs and protein on all the stuff you been eating it really wakes you up. You really don’t need all those diets where you buy their food. You can make great heathy food at home with no special ingredients just counting calories and choosing better options using this book. I can even go out to eat and know what the better options are. Awesome book!!
