Lots of worksheets
I think this book has kind of a weird fit. Lots of good worksheets with some information, but I think a person would need to have some skills or knowledge in order to follow through. Might be too elementary for those who do have more life, skills and knowledge.

Helpful and reflective
Great exercises for self-awareness and decision-making. Easy to follow and not too clinical. A solid tool if you’re exploring goals or behavior change at your own pace.

Groups
I’m a social worker at a substance abuse treatment facility. After reviewing the book, I’ve found that it will be very helpful with my groups. I suggest that if you’re looking for group topics that will bring about successful group participation, buy this book

Must have for beginner therapists!
I used to do group therapy in an IOP program. My interventions were basically what is found in this book. They were effective and decreased depression and anxiety symptoms in my patients, and helped them to enjoy life and become active. The only thing I would skip over is SMART goals. I know SMART goals are hugely popular, but in my experience when clients set a reasonable time to attain their goals and they don’t reach their goals, it can evoke shame and destroy motivation. I prefer goals with objects, and creating new habits as objectives. This book would have saved me an enormous amount of time researching if it was available when I started working. I recommend it to all my colleagues. It would be great for individuals who are desirous of improving their lives without a therapist, as it is an excellent road map. Job well done!

Probably good for self help
If this is for you to help yourself, it’s probably a great tool. As a counselor trying to learn the strategies, it’s not helpful at all.

It’s just a guide

Great tool for coaches to use, but I believe would be better use for those starting out or thinking of starting out.Useful as a self-motivating tool too. If you’re someone experienced, it’s a good refresher. A lot of the goal setting sheets are information I have knowledge in and already use with clients.Still, very worth the buy (:
