Fun, Effective and Rewarding Read
Tiny Habits, by BJ Fogg, is packed with information that is well laid out, and is easy to read and easy to understand. Text combined with charts are used to explain clearly and simply how to create habits. Real life examples illustrate the process of forming tiny habits and the effect on peoples’ lives. From reading the introduction of the book I was able to quickly design and implement some tiny habits that improved my life. After reading the entire book including doing many of the chapter exercises I am confident I can apply what I have learned to create almost any habit. One of BJ Fogg’s maxims is: “Help people do what they already want to do”. I learned about the power of this maxim through analyzing one of my behaviors. For years I was frustrated because I never put the cap back on the toothpaste after use. From reading the book and thinking about this annoying behavior I realized I did not care about the toothpaste cap. What I really cared about was a clean sink. So after trial and error I eliminated the toothpaste cap and put the toothpaste in a nice looking toothpaste holder. I put the disinfecting wipes next to the sink. Now after I brush my teeth I clean the sink. And I feel great every time I go in the bathroom.A few weeks ago I bought the digital version of Tiny Habits because I committed to a online Tiny Habits course and the requirement was to read the book. What surprised me was how much I learned by just attending the weekly online sessions. Hmm, what would learn if I read the book? Over the first few class meetings I was puzzled why I had not read a single page of a book I had bought, and about a subject I was highly interested in. Midway through the class I had my answer. I was motivated, but that is not enough. According to the Tiny Habits model the behavior should to be easy to do. So, on a whim I ordered some cool high lighters and the hard cover version of the book, and within two weeks I had read the whole book, highlighting important points. What I actually wanted to do was to read the material,. Writing with markers on some quality paper was fun, hence, making reading the book easier to do.I think this book would be useful to anyone who desires to create better habits whether you are just now thinking about changing your behaviors or have experimented with other approaches to creating habits and the approaches leave you wanting something more effective. Creating Tiny habits can be fun, and it works.

The best book on habits — if you want to learn the skill of building and sustaining habits
I took Dr. BJ Fogg’s Tiny Habits online program back in December 2011, the second week he offered it. I became hooked; I was able to nail a habit (tooth flossing) in 3 days that I had failed to do during the previous 10 years, which transformed my life and made my dentist ecstatic. I’ve sustained that habit and adopted countless other habits, which have improved my well-being and productivity. My interest in habits blossomed, and I became a Tiny Habits coach as well as studied the neuroscience of habits as a research project for an executive masters project.Even if you’ve read other habit books — and there are many right now — you need to read BJ’s Tiny Habits if you want to learn a simple, scientifically sound, and reliable way to build new habits, sustain them, and start to make other positive changes in your life. BJ’s book is so valuable because his work lays the foundation that others have adapted for their self-help books. In his book, BJ shares his recipe for habits, explains the process and gives background information in detail. And because he’s a scientist and teacher, the material is grounded and clear. Also, his focus is on behavior change, including sharing individuals’ stories of the positive changes people have made in their lives. And don’t forget the Appendixes! They are worth a close read as they include several pages of recipes for habits, tips on behavior design, and other goodies too. Many of us have been wanting this book for a long time, and BJ came through!

Most Helpful Book to Change Things for Good
I was actually reading another book on habits when I stumbled on BJ Fogg’s work. At first it seemed too simplistic, but he offered some free resources for people who pre-ordered his book. The resources were helpful and I used them a little bit in trying to change my morning routine. Since retiring, I hadn’t had much routine in my life. Sometimes I got up at 9 and others at noon. Sometimes I went to bed at 11:30 and others at 3 am. I knew that it was throwing off the rest of my routines. Eating — Sharing activities with friends — Getting my TO DO list done. In January I received the book and enjoyed reading it. Once again, BJ directed people to his website where I found a lot more resources to make things happen. For the first time in years, I got up every day at 8:30 am. I made my bed. I did my PT exercises. (My PT was amazed at the results!) I spent a few minutes meditating and did a little dance. (An important part of changing things.) The website offered a free five day class in setting up tiny habits – it helped me clarify some other things I wanted to do. I joined a 10 week program BJ offered to orient readers to his approach. It concludes tomorrow and I’ve gotten a lot out of reviewing each chapter. I was happy. Then, Coronavirus arrived in the US! As someone who has dealt with an anxiety disorder for most of my life — I could only think about dying and feeling out of control in the world. But, BJ is a “giver.” Almost immediately he started a series of sessions on Zoom that helped with various aspects of dealing with all the complications that have come with this pandemic. He has lead some himself and coaches he has trained from all over the world have done others. I stopped feeling alone. I adopted some habits I explored attending the web sessions. Seeing others over Zoom gave me more of a connection. It was a really positive experience. I encourage you to get the book, go to the website and feel happier and more in control. Many of the sessions were recorded and others are still being held. Wonderful experience, wonderful read and wonderful man.

Life changing book. 10/10. Beats the SNOT out of that “other” famous book on habits that people love so much. The practical insights, the many this-is-exactly-how-to-do-it and the many troubleshooting insights are clear indicators that whereas other books talk about how to build habits, THIS book speaks from extensive experience in teaching people how to change behavior. The compassion, the experience and the tremendous applicability of this book makes it an evergreen. It’s one of those books that should still be on bookshelves 100 years from now.The application of Fogg’s behavior model and they way you can implement it means this is not about habits, but about taking full control of your entire life, and finding an extremely easy, and extremely PLEASANT way to do it, too.I could talk for hours, but just know this: Page 169 Dynamics of Growth has a single paragraph that turns ALL of today’s hustle culture and social media success BS completely on its head. You could buy the book for that one paragraph itself and get the value back 100 times.

Un Must Read. Thanks BJ Fogg !!!

This book was life changing for me. I have applied the Tiny Habits method to my life on a personal and professional level and I have gone from strength to strength since. What I love about the book is that it is all backed by science but it does not read as a scientific book. The real life stories in the book make it so easy to relate too.
