    Must have for your kids
“What Should Danny Do?” has quickly become a favorite in our house, and I cannot recommend it enough! It is the perfect blend of engaging storytelling and valuable life lessons. The book is written in a “choose-your-own-adventure” style, allowing my kids to make decisions for Danny and see the direct consequences of his actions. This interactive approach keeps them fully engaged from start to finish. The story revolves around Danny, a “Superhero-in-Training,” who faces daily choices. The best part is that it shows how positive choices lead to a better day, while negative ones have natural, non-preachy consequences. It has been such an effective tool for teaching empathy, responsibility, and the “power to choose.”My kids absolutely love flipping to the different pages to see what happens next, and it has actually helped them think about their own behavior in real-life situations. The illustrations are vibrant, and the writing is relatable for young children (aged 3-8). If you want a book that is fun, interactive, and teaches character, this is it! We will definitely be buying the rest of the series.

    Great prep book
Super for young kids to help instruct them in making good choices and see the outcome of both poor and good choices. Real life scenarios for kiddos to help prepare them when they do occur. For example , bullies at school.

A Must Have for PreKindergarten Kids
These books are fantastic for my Pre-K class. It’s about how making choices is a superpower, and helps kids understand that they have the power to make their day great, even if they start out making sad choices – they can turn their day around.

Teach kids agency in a fun, engaging way!
Great book for discussing choices and teaching kids to have agency over their lives. I wish this book had been around when I was a kid! My son (5) and even my daughter (2) love this book and seeing how changing the choices impacts Danny’s day. The book has extremely relatable situations that kids are likely to encounter, so it gives us a great framework for talking about these when they arise in real life. We often reference the “power to choose” or even other superpowers like “super focus”. We also have the original book and the “Darla” book which my daughter particularly loves. The book is fun and engaging and the illustrations are colorful and evocative.

A nightly favorite for my 5-year-old
I bought this for my 5-year-old son, and it has quickly become the most requested book in our nightly rotation. It’s a “Choose Your Own Adventure” style book where Danny runs into common school struggles , like playground drama or not being the line leader. My son gets to decide how Danny reacts, and he loves seeing how his choices change the ending.

    We want more!
My 6 year old son was intrigued when he heard that Danny has super powers. He couldn’t wait to read and choose the scenarios! At first he chose the answer he thought he was supposed to pick, but then wondered what would happen if he chose wrong on the second scenario. He wanted to read it multiple times to discover how things played out.As a school counseling graduate student, I would highly recommend for parents wanting to expand on the importance of making good choices. This is one of the most important thing we can teach our children as they grow older and are faced with many different challenges. This story is also effective at teaching resilience as children grasp the concept of disappointment and how to manage their emotions when things happen.I deducted one star for miscommunication. There is only 1 story with 8 different scenarios. Also, the pages are so confusing. It tells you to turn back to a previous page after you have made your choice on multiple questions. Therefore, it can be difficult to review what happened when Danny made poor choices because it can be difficult to find those pages! Overall, I am happy with my purchase and would buy more if available! If this was helpful, please click “helpful” so others can see. Thank you.

Book that teaches making good choices
Helps to teach kids the importance of making good choices. Your child gets to make the choice for Danny and the story continues based on choice made. Creating so many different stories to read. Kids love the book. Also there is a What Would Darla Do book.

I love these books. I have a full of character 6 year old boy and this is our second of the What Should Danny Do books. He absolutely loves them and enjoys reading the good and bad choices and navigating us around the book as its not a simple timeline and I think this adds to the attraction for him. It doesn’t escape me that its very simplistic and dare I say contrived, nonetheless I find it helpful in spelling out positive behaviours and the consequences of less positive behaviours in different and very relatable scenarios. Particularly as he can get overexcited and forget sometimes. Its an American book but its easy to change soccer to football and Mom to Mum etc. As he gets older he’ll have plenty of opportunites to learn that life is more nuanced but in the meantime this has been helpful.
